The Oncoming Storm

The Oncoming Storm is an upcoming ancient past-tech character role play, with mild fantasy/magic elements, that will take place in the Great Cities of Osiris, beginning one week from today provided enough interest is generated.

The basic premise of The Oncoming Storm is a war between Thebes and Alexandria for control of the Osiran empire, after the Nomarch of Alexandria, Joshua Ravenclaw, asserts a claim to the throne of Osiris and is crowned Archon-Basileus of Osiris by a new monotheistic religious cult devoted to a Mediterranean whale god who is said to annually die and rise again to prevent the Mediterranean Sea from consuming the whole world. After Ravenclaw declares Alexandria the new capital of Osiris and begins assembling an army from lands across the Mediterranean, the reigning Pharaoh of Osiris in Thebes, Cormac Sethos, issues a call to arms to the other Great Cities to defend Osiris and its traditional polytheistic religion, and to retake Alexandria for the Pharaoh. At the beginning of the RP, the armies raised from all of the other Great Cities will be assembled on the outskirts of Alexandria, preparing to liberate the city.

Aside from jump-starting our Great Cities RP, the goal of The Oncoming Storm is to provide a reset to the Great Cities system so that the Great Cities can continue to be the hub of Osiran RP.

Brief Character Description:

Please note that you can't just adopt yourself into a house, you have to be adopted into it according to that house's customs and with permission from that house. Anyone is free to use their own alternative house, such as House Vasentius or House Rahl, that isn't currently one of the ruling houses of the Great Cities, as long as the house is aligned with one of the Great Cities.

Brief Character Description: Treize Dreizehn is the Nomarch of Philae. Philae has long been a stronghold of thieves and assassins who maintain a level of legitimacy in Osiris through their service to the Pharaoh. This house's official status is a relatively recent affair, granted after exceptional service to several previous Pharaohs.

The house's leader, Treize Dreizehn is a man who knows who he is and what he wants. With swords and shallow graves, he has worked tirelessly to turn the Pharaoh's will into a stark cold reality. Those who stand against the Pharaoh must look over their shoulders often, lest they find a Dreizehn blade in their backs. Often wielded by Treize himself.

You have to stay in practice, after all.

Character Name: Cormac Sethos
Character City: Thebes
Character House: Sethos
Brief Character Description: Cormac Sethos is the Pharaoh of Osiris. His power base, Thebes, is the capital of Osiris and is the political and cultural hub of the Osiran empire, as well as the center of its traditional religious rites. The Pharaoh recently came to power upon succeeding his brother, Tim Stark, who abdicated the throne and has resumed his role as Nomarch of Karnak, the Temple City located within Thebes.

House Sethos, a cadet branch of House Montresor, has family ties to other Great Cities known for their military prowess, and the Pharaoh is known to have one of the sharpest strategic minds in Osiris. He is also known for being fiercely loyal to his family and friends and for rescuing his soldiers in battle even at great personal cost to himself. The Pharaoh's quick temper and tendency to act on gut instinct and impulse sometimes cloud his strategic vision.

Brief Character Description: Yuno is a playful scythe-wielder. Her loyalty to the Pharaoh is questionable as there's (destroyed) evidence that she's deserted to the evil side once before. However, she seems to be strangely excited for this liberation as if she's brimming of bloodlust, a childish smile and a deadly grin.

Character House: Stark (Am I still a Stark?

)
Brief Character Description: Applebane is a lazy pyromaniac living in Karnak. He's loyal to the Pharaoh, but he's really far too lazy to really do much of anything, unless Alexandrian forces knock on his door, at which point he'll probably drop some lamp oil and a torch on said intruders. He wears red clothing and a mask simply because he thinks it looks cool.
