Re-Open Nominations

Post by Cormac »

I'm officially throwing my support behind the re-opening of nominations in the current election for Pharaoh.

Given current events involving the election, I think it would benefit Osiris for nominations to be re-opened and for alternative candidates to be able to put forward their names for election. I think it would also benefit Osiris for some candidates to be able to reconsider their candidacy and not declare in the second round. We don't want an election in which we're at each other's throats and in which one candidate and his supporters hates another candidate and his supporters, because one of those candidates will be Pharaoh. Re-opening nominations will wipe the slate clean and start this election over again, with the possibility of new candidates who aren't tainted by the current situation emerging, gaining more support, and bringing the region together.

I urge everyone to rank Re-open Nominations first on their ballot, without delay, because voting closes later tonight.

Okay. Who do you think will stand? I doubt anybody else would stand.

In your right hand you still support the system that caused this mess, and in the left hand you want a do-over?

If you really support the majority vote system over the plurality vote system, then stick with what your system put out. A majority winner, surrounded by toxicity and divisiveness.

Maybe Tim will stand for re-election. Maybe someone else who is sick of the bullshit in this election cycle will stand. Don't you think it's worth finding out, if it could mean not electing one of three candidates who are now extremely divisive?

We can talk about the system and its perceived problems in the other thread, where you've brought it up again. Right now we are hurtling toward an explosive conclusion to a current election with no time to make any changes at all to the system. We can either vote to re-open nominations or we can vote to elect an extremely divisive Pharaoh. Alternatively, we can vote to elect Kyorgia or Andrew.

I'll follow along with RON, but tentatively, because I don't have much faith this will catch fire quickly enough to become the majority vote before the election ends tonight.

I'm supporting RON, too. And if it succeeds, I will consider standing in the next election. Yes, I'm woefully unqualified in terms of Osiris experience, but considering all the recent events, that might not be a disadvantage.

You do realize that the prospect of Tim getting another term is more nauseating than Whale or Jakker, right?
