Jakker for Pharaoh
Hello all,
I have brought new life to the positions I have held within Osiris including Scribe of Media and Keeper, and I look to continue that trend as Pharaoh. My campaign for Pharaoh revolves around three major points: Community, Consistency, and Foreign Affairs. I believe by focusing our attention on these three components, we will yield strong activity for Osiris internally and externally.
Community: Osiris’ strength comes from every one of you who engage within the region and on the forum every day. I believe that right now we try too hard to fit our community within Osiris rather than maximize our community’s strengths for the better of Osiris.
As pharaoh, I will speak with as many active participants in the forum, on skype, and in-game as I can. My goal is to find out what inspires people; what motivates them. If there is someone who is really interested in debates or roleplay or politics or anime or R/D, I want to work to set up a venue in Osiris to help them practice that interest. By providing these platforms, we will be able to build a foundation of activity. Activity is contagious and will only build as more and more people add their personal flair to the region.
Community also revolves around integration. One strong push during my term will be reaching out to the nations in-game through telegram and RMB to ask for suggestions on polls and other aspects that they will like to see. Ideally, we would eventually gravitate them to the forum, but my focus is not the forum alone. As I mentioned before, I want to take the aspects that people enjoy and make them a reality. By listening and responding to the desires of Osiris, it will grow into a truly unique and beautiful region.
Integration will be one way to get involved that I will bring up to citizens when I speak with them. Jesus Whale’s idea of the Integration Corps is definitely solid and a great way to go about achieving this goal. However, I will want to first focus on ensuring there is plenty going on in the region already before diverting much resources into getting more people on the forum. We must have diverse and continuous venues to get involved.
Consistency: I will bring a strong and active presence to the pharaoh position. This means engaging on the forum and participating in conversations. This means telegramming the region regarding updates and to promote the forum. This also means communicating with you on what I am doing. I plan on making a forum thread where I post every two weeks with updates on what my agenda is at the moment. This trend will also serve for citizens to post suggestions that they will like to see.
I also plan on holding meetings with the Hedjet a couple times a month consistently. These meetings will include the Keeper and members of the Pschent and Atef. My goal is accountability and collaboration. We need to all make sure that we are all holding ourselves accountable for the region. Additionally, this will give us a time to share new ideas or thoughts about the region. The government positions are very siloed from my experience and I believe the more we communicate, the greater the likelihood of us working together.
Foreign Affairs: This is something I really want to work on. Over my time in NS, I have developed strong relationships with several people outside of the region. Our Foreign Affairs has diminished greatly over some time. Myself and others in the government will make a point to meet with other regional leaders to discuss relations. This includes regions that we already have treaties and connections with. Ultimately, I would like our relationship with other Game Created Regions to improve as well as many UCRs.
Through that outreach, we will have a better connection with other regions, which will set the stage for further collaboration in the future. I envision that through this foundation, we can work together to build amazing results such as cultural events. I have full confidence in myself to represent Osiris well and diplomatically develop those relationships further. Additionally, the more connections we make, the more interest others outside of the region will have in joining Osiris one day. I bring a professional, level headedness to the pharaoh position that will serve well in working with external constituencies.
It would be an honor to serve you all as pharaoh and I would make sure I am doing everything I can each day to earn that honor. Being pharaoh is a cause greater than self and for me, there is nothing greater than serving all of you.
Sincerely,
Jakker

In terms of foreign policy, are you an institutionalist or a constructivist?

Before I even read this thread:
1) you need to actually accept your nomination
2) Why did you run for Keeper knowing you wanted to run for Pharoah very soon after? I have hard time believing that the other candidates wouldn't have finished their terms.

That's a fair criticism to make. In terms of not finishing my term, I was not wanting to run for Pharaoh at the time and my focus was on being Keeper. The commitment of being WA immobile was something I decided on recently. I ran for Keeper because I believe that I could invest fully into making the position more than what it has been as of late. And I have worked really hard to give as much to the position as I can. My decision to run for pharaoh is not something I have taken lightly. Ultimately, it was not until I was approached to consider running for pharaoh that I really considered the prospect.

Great question there, Vienna. I had to look up the termsVienna wrote:Mon Mar 28, 2016 6:29 pmIn terms of foreign policy, are you an institutionalist or a constructivist?
I think it is a balance of the two. With foreign policy, typically there is a history between those regions already. Yet at the same time, you are working with others who may be new to the positions or someone you have not worked with before. Therefore, one must be aware of the structures in place. Perhaps, there are specific people to turn to for certain needs or requests. It requires some maneuvering through those politics.
I really dig the constructivist approach though. I do not think it is fair to go into the first foreign policy discussion with a specific goal such wanting to conduct a treaty. Relationships need to be established and ideas need to be shared. Perhaps there is a unique way to connect the regions that wouldn't have been thought about had a structure been stuck with initially. My genuine goal with connections is to first build a rapport, listen, and learn. From there, more formal relations can be considered.

Great platform!
I'd like to wish you good luck and ask a question if I may.
If yourself or any of the other candidates think that's a bit over the line please say so.
Koth, Tim, and Fest each brought a strong and active Pharaoh, and each time we fell into inactivity. How will you solve this?
Not with the policies and ideas laid out here, but you yourself.

There are multiple factors that have led to periods of inactivity and they can be tough to overcome. I really want to engage people on a personal level. As I mentioned, I want to listen to what others have to say and really provide as many opportunities to get involved as possible. This all needs to be done with the citizens currently in the community. Activity really spreads as more people start getting excited about the region, so we just need to figure out together what those things are.
I also need to be active and engaged myself. Being Pharaoh is serving as the role model as the region. I have experience with bringing activity. I had to bring The Black Hawks from inactivity a couple times. It takes a lot of consistent, hard work that cannot be done in one day or by one person.
I want to really be realistic with this term and focus on us being successful rather than trying to achieve super awesome goals that may not be the most attainable. I think we can consistently be active and that's what I will shoot for.

The majority of your NS experience and your obvious strength is military. Who would you nominate for Scribe of War? If you do not feel comfortable answering that, tell me who you would like to be your Scribe of War. You can pick one or more people if you would like.

Thanks for the question, Fest. In its current form, I don't see the validity in devoting too much attention to having our own operations when our numbers are so low. I think we should still provide support to our allies when in need. I think we should still maintain security within our region. What I am essentially getting at is that I don't think we need a Scribe of War who can trigger and lead operations. Rather, at this moment, we need someone who can recruit, organize, and coordinate.
I don't have a specific person in mind, but I will be using that mindset when meeting with people.

Hey Jakker! This looks like a pretty solid platform, and I wish you the best of luck! I do have a few questions:
1. Do you plan to make more use of Regional Officers and, if so, how?
2. In regard to the Predator crisis, how will you handle that from a foreign affairs perspective? Are you open to the possibility of terminating relations with DEN or The Black Hawks if that seems appropriate, or are you already predisposed against that course of action? Do you think your position as Chairman of the Council of the Hawks may be a hindrance to objective decision making on this issue?
3. Will you commit to not nominating a Predator user to serve as your Vizier or Scribe of War?
4. Are you at all concerned that including the Pschent, and perhaps to a lesser extent the Keeper and even the Guardians, in meetings of the Hedjet may lead to conflicts of interest that would compromise the independence of those institutions and separation of powers?
5. Will you be going back to the original blue version of the regional flag, the purple version, or some other color?
Thanks!
