Opening Address of Pharaoh Ambroscus Koth
So, looks like I'm the Pharaoh of Osiris again. Still a little difficult to process. I'd like to, of course, begin with a round of thanks. Thank you to Tim Stark, who served in this seat admirably for two terms. For you newer members of the region, that's a feat that not many delegates of this region can attest to actually accomplishing, and he deserves some applause for keeping our region safe and out of hot water for the past 6 months. I'd like to thank the Deshret for having confidence in me and deciding I'm good enough for the toughest job in the region. I'd like to thank Ainocra for maintaining a positive attitude and outlook during our very competitive race, despite the oddities that have occurred in the past few days. Last but not least, I need to thank the hard-working members of this region that keep the wheels turning. Every minute you all spend here is a treasure.
So enough of that sappy shit. I'll be real, I've been typing up a storm for the past few days given the campaign, my personal for RaiderCon (which still needs to be completed) on the founding of the OFO, and various other writing projects, so all apologies if this isn't the most loquacious opening address y'all have ever seen.
To start preparing for the future, we have to work from where we are now. We're in pretty darn good shape if we're comparing the beginning of my term to, say, the conditions in the region during the ascension of almost anyone else who's ever served as Pharaoh. I'm eternally thankful we have the stability and reputation we do...you'd have to have been around a few years ago to know why.
So where do we start? With one post a day from everyone. Seriously. Anyone who's reading this thread, I don't care if you have nothing useful to contribute to any ongoing discussions, I want you to tell me right now that you'll make at least one post a day. Even if it's just in a spam game, every little bit of activity counts during this transitional period. This isn't a difficult request, and obviously I'm not gonna be mad or anything if you're busy that day or whatever. My focus this term is on trying to promote activity and fraternity, and I can't do that alone, I need you guys, I need Osiris. Stop by and tell us how your day went. Throw your opinion at whatever's cooking in the Deshret that day. Try to overtake the person above you in the spam points thread, I don't care. Have I gotten the point across yet? I believe y'all can do it.
The Priesthoods are another huge part of our region that are not feeling the love. We haven't had someone post an Executive Service Application for over a month. If you're reading this and you aren't part of a Priesthood, what are you waiting for! Find one that appeals to you and help the desert sinker out! JUST DO IT! We can't settle for just a few people handling the bulk of all the work this region can do. Expectations are high from me, which means that conversely there's gonna be a hell of a lot of expectation for me to kick some serious ass this term.
I'm gonna be bringing back the Scribe of Foreign Affairs, a position left vacant by Tim for the entirety of his service. I can't be everywhere and know everything, and being able to sit on a good SoFA (best acronym ever) is gonna be important to me during my term. I can be a little...rough around the edges...so my diplomacy is probably better handled by a competent Scribe.
Since I know you folks are just SO EAGER to see what I had planned for the Hedjet, I'll fill you in:
Vizier: Jakker
Scribe of Foreign Affairs: Severisen
Scribe of Justice: Tim
Scribe of Media: Jakker
Scribe of Security: Severisen
Scribe of WA Affairs: Ainocra
Scribe of War: Festavo
Scribe of Culture: Impossible Girl
I'm expecting a few double takes to be had. Go ahead, I'll wait. You done? Righteous. I opted for a little bit of unconventionality here, but I'll explain more about my choices when I submit this cabinet to the Deshret for their approval.
Without further ado, let's get this term moving, shall we?
