Applicable Laws: The Criminal Codex; Section 2, subsection (d) "Off-site Property Destruction" is defined as any attempt to phish, crash, or spam any off-site property belonging to any region or organization in NationStates.

Appropriate Definitions: Section 5, Point (a) "Off-site property" is defined as any forum or website that exists separately from the NationStates website; Section 5, Point (c) "Crashing" is defined as any attempt to cause off-site property to permanently go out of service or lose information, including but not necessarily limited to improper deletion of posts, deletion of a forum or website, and deliberate posting of content of such a nature that it could cause a forum or website host to delete the forum or website.

TIMELINE

20-23 February 2015: The Court will allow a submission of evidence to the Presiding Elder, Joshua Ravenclaw
23-24 February 2015: The Court will allow a period of reflection over submitted evidence.
Note: If no evidence is submitted beyond what was filed with the charges, the court shall move to take opening statements from each side during this period.
25-26 February 2015: The Court will hear Pleas and witness testimony from affected Parties. The Court will hear a Victim's Statement, if appropriate.
27-28 February 2015: The Court will hear final statements, render judgment on the Defendant and any sentencing if necessary.

Well - I'm not entirely sure that this is where it needs to be however this is where it's going to go. Not going to jump through hoops to get this statement out.

As the founder of AoI, Cultural center of the region and Root admin to the forums that were brought down I certainly feel I am more than able to speak on behalf of the former community of AoI. In saying that I wish for this statement to be taken as that being put forward from (Former) AoI.

Ridersyl is a major and well liked member of the NS gameplay community - and a man I would happily call a friend. In his short time on this site he has accomplished numerous things which more often than not have been for the betterment of others rather than himself. It is true that he has made very clear that he had taken part in the Crashing of the AoI forums however he was in no way the ringleader or driving force behind this atrocious act.

Alongside himself we had a former member - Shadoke. A partnership in the act for forum destruction. During the confession of Shadoke he made very clear that he was the ring leader and that Neo Rome Republic was also involved - However this statement was later removed. In saying that we can look at the manipulation that would have occurred to have swayed the mind of a well respected member of the community of Osiris and Gameplay. Ridersyl had been appointed War Scribe of Osiris - A prestigious position where things where looking up for him. Being put in a position in which he would be doing more than simply leading tag raids under The Black Riders. Would he have deliberately gone along with this act knowing for well that it would ultimately damage his future across the entire site?

This manipulation of people and of the truth was further shown in how Shadoke brought forward the matter of the forum crashing. Ultimately pinning it on myself as some means to get back at him as well as rubbing it in everyones face - Like it was some form of trophy. Once I had gotten the confession shadoke made clear that I had photoshopped it to create a false confession. When he was ultimately found out he attempted to use hacktool to create an email from Skype to claim someone had been sending these messages.

This is an extensive history of Manipulation on the part of the Ring leader behind the crashing of the AoI forums.

I was on leave myself as (Self proclaimed) Prophet over AoI when this happened. My girlfriend had been sick and needed surgery so I decided to take some time off. Between days I would get on and check my telegrams. Occasionally checking my Skype. After a while away I had received numerous messages asking what happened to the forums - One from Cormac. He had asked if it was me.

As time went on and a lot of threats / bluffs on my part i had received a confession and the PNG status placed on the ring leader of these events. At this point I had believed this whole conundrum had been laid to rest and I continued to enjoy my time away from this site.

After multiple resignations on the GP forums - The loss of Blood Wine, Cormac's "Resignation" and than to see this "I'm quitting NS" from Ridersyl It was certainly a sad sight. It was around 3am if I recall correctly when I first saw it. I skimmed over it and missed the most important part - His admittance (After Frak released information) to taking part in the crashing of the forums. Since my response was one of a "Awwe don't go" I yet again found myself getting messages asking questions on the matter. The next day I made a point of rereading it...and was extremely disappointed that someone I would call friend had done such a thing.

Since that time I have completed numerous tasks with Ridersyl and have received many an apology from the man. With days that we are on a skype call together and he will announce how sorry he is for the crashing - Hearing the remorse in his voice is something that can't be explained. He still regrets it now and knows what a massive impact this has done to his reputation and future.

I for one have forgiven him for what I would call a major slip up down to being manipulated. I know that my partner in AoI and ongoing now (Noblephnx / Revall) has also forgiven him for this matter. Alongside us I can say with a smile our community would much rather welcome Ridersyl with open arms rather than pushing him away with a pitchfork.

The crashing of the forum did major damage to AoI and the community - There is no denying that. I would go as far to say that the crashing is the main reason we decided to disband. However we have moved forward as a community. We do wish to let this lay in rest.

I ask that a close eye is kept on Ridersyl for the safety of OFO but that no punishment is passed. We do desire that he is allowed to continue on his future on this site with his punishment being the guilty conscience and disappointment from his friends. All we wish for now is that we may accept him back into the community of AoI as one of us once again.

We have slightly deviated from my planned timetable due to human events. Does the Prosecution have anything to officially present? This would be a good time for witnesses, if any. Does the Defendant have anything to say about his actions?

Yes, Elder.

While it's clear that I did this, anyone can tell you that I've been incredibly apologetic and sympathetic since I opened up.

So everyone understands, I wasn't involved in the conspiracy to crash the AOI forums. NEO Rome Republic and Shadoke had already planned to crash the AOI forums and yet another forum to which I wasn't given information about. Shadoke asked me to do it for him, and I was caught up in it. My better judgement did not kick in. I don't know why it didn't. I tried to conceal my involvement, until that became impossible for me to do any longer, and I made a public confession and apology to my friends and to the victims.

Amazingly, it has been well received. I have been forgiven, even by the owner of the forums, and former members who contributed to it. Important also, I have been forgiven by my friends.

That said, I still know there needs to be consequence. I know there needs to be punishment. The hope is that the punishment does not restrict my ability to contribute to Osiris on a social and community-oriented basis, and that the punishment is settled on the accurate charges.

I profess my gratitude to The Court for the time I've been to speak here.

Does the Scribe of Seshat have anything to add, or a suggested sentence in the event the Defendant is convicted?

I have no further evidence beyond what I submitted for the prosecution's case - I think the guilt of the defendant is clear, with his sentencing being the true question.

I leave recommendations for sentencing to the Pschent's discretion.

The Criminal Codex is rather straight-forward in this case, and the Pschent does not, in this case have grounds to give a more lenient sentence.

In that case, I recommend a sentencing of a ban for a year.
