I would first like to say that it has been a great privilege to have been here at the birth of a new golden age of Osiris, and to have helped in building a new, more vibrant community here. It is perhaps the biggest regret of my NS career that I was too wrapped up in my own affairs in December to take part in the glorious birth of freedom that occurred here then. I have been in NS, on and off, for about six years, and I have taken part in more than a few regions. However, Osiris has given me something that no other region has, something I previously did not think was possible in NS. That is, a home. No matter what was going in other regions, or in real life, the OFO has always been there, and for that I must thank the people who made this community possible, and those who continue to care about it and are driven to improve it.
I realize that I may be viewed as inexperienced. In some ways this is true. I have only been in Osiris since January. However, I like to think that this makes me more open to new ideas, less likely to be molded into a particular shape by a long career in NS politics. In addition, I know that I can count on the help and advice of the wisest, most experienced individuals that this region has to offer.
Those who know me would, I have no doubt, use a variety of adjectives to describe me. The word “inactive” is not among these. I have never been inactive on the Osiris forum for any significant period of time. I promise that as your pharaoh, I will increase my activity yet further and tackle the problems facing my home region of Osiris with all the zeal of which I am capable.
Positions on the issues:
Activity: Increased activity is perhaps the most important issue facing Osiris today. The addition of new citizens can improve every aspect of the Osirin community. The Military; whether ISRA or Legion, needs more soldiers in order to complete more, and larger missions and assist in regional security. Osirin culture would be greatly improved by the new ideas that new and active citizens would bring into Osiris. Osirin role play would gain new RP ideas, and larger numbers of participants. The Deshret would also improve. You see, at the moment, the Deshret contains approximately 23 members. As the region of Osiris has well over 2900 nations, this means that the Deshret accounts for less than 1% of the total population. What is disturbing about this statistic is that the Deshret is a directly democratic body, meaning that no elections are required for entry. An increase in activity would therefore increase the enfranchisement of the people of Osiris, giving the region greater freedom and bringing it closer to the democracy that the State Code intends.
In order to increase integration and activity, I propose a system of telegrams to the nations of Osiris, which will be sent either weekly or bi-weekly. These telegrams will be composed by the scribe of Integration, and will feature exciting forum-side news, with the aim of convincing the people of Osiris to join the forums as citizens.
Culture and Role-play: If elected, I promise to honor all of the holidays listed in the Holidays and Honors act, and hold as many festivals as I can with other regions. I will also attempt to re-boot our Role-play through integration of new citizens and, if possible, collaboration with other regions.
Justice: I believe that a greater amount of activity caused by an Integration initiative will lead to a more active Seshat. I believe that the executive branch should not intervene in judicial affairs, but that a more active justice system will be the end of embarrassing judicial events such as the Bob Moran affair. In addition, I propose that the criminal code of Osiris could use some minor revisions to allow the Seshat to operate most effectively.
News: The news media should become active in the OFO, as it plays a vital role in making the region and the world aware of events in Osiris. I believe that every effort should be made to revive the Osiris Outlaw. In addition, citizens should be encouraged to start their own news agencies, which are important due to the fact that multiple news agencies covering a single event is a good way to protect against bias.
Diplomacy: It is my personal belief that Osiris should establish diplomatic relations with all regions that have large, active, and civil communities. If this belief is in error, then, like all of the other positions presented here, I will change it to one more beneficial to the OFO. This is one of the major advantages of having a Pharaoh in my position: that I am open to new ideas and am by no means set in my ways.
Military: Osiris will, of course, remain an Imperialist region. The strengthening and maintenance of a strong Imperialist military will be one of my primary goals as pharaoh. I also intend to use the military as a way of spreading the influence of Osiris through colonies and territories.
Lastly, I would like to say to everyone that I have every confidence in the wisdom of the Deshret of Osiris, and I know that however the ballots may be cast, the right person for the job will become pharaoh, and will lead this, the greatest of regions and my home, into a bright new era of prosperity.
