Marching Onward

Post by Venico »

"My Lord! Venico!" The loud dwarf bustled towards Venico who was sparring in the courtyard. Both the Lord of Giza and his partner were shirtless with their knuckles wrapped, exchanging blows. He continued ignoring the cries from the court attendant until he heard, "Both House Somerset and Ravenclaw have sent requests for assistance!" Ven ducked a blow, drove his shoulder into his sparring partner's ribs and then pushed him to the ground. Not having to worry about a blow to the head, Venico walked over to the attendant who was holding two letters.

"What is it boy?" The Lord grunted as he started undoing his knuckle wraps. "Some threat to the realm or other?"

The attendant shuffled his feet a bit before offering both letters. "It seems that House Somerset is moving to attack the City of Alexandria. They request our aid and cite numerous offenses done by House Ravenclaw. Alexandria requests assistance in defending its walls." Venico grabbed the paper with a Somerset seal and squinted at it for a few seconds before handing it back.

"Send word that we're on our way. Alert the Arms Masters to start preparing equipment. Get word to our garrisons to start assembling on our border before a march to Alexandria. Call up a few Berserker units and get the Brotherhood working towards Alexandria as well." Venico bit at the cloth on his hands and finally freed them before beginning to dress again.

The attendant stayed and looked sheepishly at his lord. "Ummm, to whom do we send word of our assistance?" As quick as he said it, a cupped hand hit the back of his head.

Squinting at him, Venico said, "Don't be daft boy. I have never called upon Cormac for assistance and not gotten it, nor have I ever left him alone on a battlefield. If he's taking Alexandria then House BrightAxe will stand beside him. Besides, those bloody mages freak me out anyways. Send Raven a letter saying 'House BrightAxe shall arrive in due haste and not to be alarmed. We're sure that we can end this conflict quickly with the strength and iron resolve of our Dwarven Legions.' That should be ambiguous enough that I won't feel guilty when we take the city. Send a letter with our numbers and routes to Cormac and start coordinating with him. If we converge at Melda Arch we should be able to coordinate from there." He paused and thought for a second. "Send word to House Isaraider too that we would like to talk with them about this conflict. If we all end up on the winning side, the better."

Redressed and with his axe on his hip, the Lord of Giza set off to do his favorite thing. Wage War.

Reading the letter his Pharaoh sent him, Venico shrugged and crumpled it into his pocket. "Recall the troops. House BrightAxe will not participate in this one. Send ravens to tell any party asking for our assistance to fuck off and that we'll be in our mountain."

And with that, the Lord of Giza returned to his bedroom.
