Description: WA Security Council Resolution #109: Liberate NAZI EUROPE shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The Security Council,

Prefacing the arguments herein with a disclaimer that the ideology followed and promoted by NAZI EUROPE and its inhabitants to be one of hate and intolerance and that this proposal does not amount to approval or acceptance of said ideology,

Believing, however, that every region should hold the right to self-protection in the way of Delegate-imposed password, should the natives of the region wish it, and that Liberations used in antithesis to this statute are in contradiction with the spirit of this council,

Aware that SC#109 was passed in hopes of misusing a Liberation to open up a region to attack from outside forces,

Stating that the multitude of attempts to forcibly take over the now-vulnerable region were utter failures in every aspect of the word, and that a combination of forces from many regions were unsuccessful in capturing NAZI EUROPE, to the amusement of the natives,

Fervently condemning that SC#109 not only produced free face time for such a despicable and Condemned region, but that the subsequent attempts to attack the region only had the effect of strengthening the region and its membership,

Therefore admonishing SC#109, its purpose, and effects as only promoting the region and ideology it attempted to destroy, and in fact doing more harm than good as well as abusing the power of the Liberation,

Hereby Repeals SC#109.

First, the potential arguments for repeal: SC#109 is really not a well written resolution. It is at times incoherent and is, frankly, a mess. Moreover, while all of the GCRs -- including Osiris -- originally agreed to vote for Liberate NAZI EUROPE, they did not agree to vote against all repeal attempts in perpetuity, and at least one GCR Delegate is currently voting for with four others still not voting yet.

That said, I don't think it makes sense for us to vote for this repeal.

While the Delegates who attended last year's anti-Nazi conference hosted by the NPO didn't agree to vote against repeals in perpetuity, it goes against the spirit of the agreement we made to vote to repeal the resolution absent any new and compelling reason to do so. While we are in no sense bound by an agreement made by a Pharaoh no longer in office and a government no longer in existence, there doesn't seem to be any compelling reason for us to potentially upset relations with other GCRs by voting for this repeal. Even the Delegate of Lazarus, now a defender region, continues to vote against every repeal attempt.

Moreover, leaving the liberation resolution in place gives the Legion a meaningful potential opportunity to work with other GCR military forces that primarily focus upon anti-Nazi action and little else. It doesn't make sense for us to deprive ourselves of this opportunity to work with our GCR friends, when there would be no benefit to us whatsoever in voting for this repeal. This is an even more important issue for us to consider as other regions and organizations, including the UDL, are trying to coax other GCRs toward more defensive military activity and closer relations with defender regions and organizations.

It doesn't make any sense or provide any benefit to us to vote for this repeal. I recommend a vote against.

Hey Raven! I don't want to bother you, but I just wanted to explain why people are pushing for this repeal of Liberate NAZI EUROPE. The region's population has doubled since the original Liberation passed - it's essentially had the opposite effect of what was intended.

Likewise, it's an abuse of what the Liberation category was intended for - and thus been used as justification for people to use the category in a malicious manner against other founderless regions.

You can bring this up in Osiris forum debate if you like, but I thought I should bring that to your attention.

I find it amusing that Unibot claims to know for what purpose the Liberation resolution was intended (e.g., his purposes).

The Liberation resolution has the mechanical effect of removing password protection imposed by a Delegate. That is its purpose. Full stop. Any other moral or ideological purpose given to it is extended by players, not by the creators of the resolution, and other players are free to disagree with those moral and ideological purposes and propose other purposes. The idea that SC#109 is a misuse of the Liberation resolution is absurd; it is only a misuse if one accepts that the only appropriate use is to further the defender agenda, and I do not. Neither should we as a region.

As a general policy I would also urge the Pharaoh to ignore the in-game regional vote on Security Council resolutions. Security Council resolutions are gameplay resolutions, a subject of which most non-forum issue answerers are completely ignorant and a subject that impacts our forum community but not our in-game community. While I can see merit in taking in-game votes into account for GA resolutions, SC resolutions have no bearing on our in-game WA nations and their national statistics and I see no merit in taking their votes into account for SC resolutions. If they want to have an impact on our regional gameplay they need to register on our forum and participate in our regional gameplay.
