Hello Amy,

I am curious as to your campaign. While I applaud your enthusiasm and ideas, I am concerned about a number of areas. Perhaps you would be so kind as to alleviate these concerns.

The first of which is the lack of experience you have identified. Other than real-life credentials, which are difficult in itself to verify, citizenship in two regions is does not fulfil my personal preference for the Keeper to have had NS-leadership experience (which can also have been garnered in a small UCR).

You have been a member of this forum for a little more than a week. Do you have adequete experience in and understanding of our community to operate as the leader of our legislature?

I am confused about this WA bill you are proposing. What exactly will it aim to accomplish?

I apologise if these queries may come across as aggressive. I assure you it is not the case, I am merely interested in exploring all my options before casting my vote and would like to know more about you as I have never met you before. Thank you for your candidacy :)

I am glad to see you running, Amy.

You mentioned that people may be afraid of politicians because they lie, cheat and steal. You say you aren't like that. How do we know that? Every politician says they are honest and won't do wrong, but some do. I am not saying you will, but I want to ask this question. Thanks.

And thank you for your question, President Stewie:)

You make it seem that being apart of only two regions is a bad thing, I would like to flip it around and say it is a good thing. It shows that I am not one to leave on arrival, I stay, for a long time. Even in a region I feel I had made a mistake by joining, I stay there, and wait it out, I remain loyal to where loyalty was due. I do respect your claims, my "out-of-game experience" is hard to verify, or even believe. I have served in the citizen legislature (or their respective equivalent) in all regions that I have served in, but the reason, the sole reason I could not make it farther was because I was not up front and bold about what I wanted to accomplish. Winning an election over text and e-Mail is harder than winning an election in real life. In real life the person can see your enthusiasm, they know your credentials... over this: one just can't expect that kind of knowledge to be worthy of full faith and credit.

These questions all trickle down to one thing; is Amy the right choice for our region? And I bless you, respect you, and glorify you for all of your concerns. This region safeguards democracy, and isn't afraid to show it. My devotion to the other two regions shows that loyalty is something that I too, safeguard and cherish.

But, this isn't the answer you are looking for. I can tell because I myself after reading this think it of a little dodge. My point is: my in-game experience shouldn't be measured by the number of regions my nation has been apart in, but the years of hard work and devotion I gave to all of them; including, already here in Osiris.

Your next question, is actually a really good question: and after having read the state code, talked to Pharaoh, talked to Andrew, and asked around on the forum, I have an understanding of the way procedure works. This shows that I entered into this region, and "learned up". My curiosity for how the gears grind (as the saying goes) trumps the fact that I am on vacation right now. When I read on, I saw how specific the code was. I saw the law records, and although I did not sit down and read all of the laws, I read a great many of them. Your laws are something that you safeguard, your culture is something that you safeguard. A vote for Amy is not radical change from day 1, it is subtle change by means of debate, and simple majority votes, in areas where change is due. This of course will be determined by the Deshret (of whether or not change is in fact due).

And, your WA question: my WA proposal would essentially make it so that if you were able to join the WA, you would be asked to join it prior to becoming a citizen. But I understand that some factors prohibit other nations from joining the WA; this legislation would only apply to those who COULD join the WA, but for whatever reason, have not.

Pharaoh:

You would know that I am not your average politician, because I am a business-owner. I put aside what I love to do (which is making customized stationary for people, and other businesses), to be apart of the legislature. I didn't join the legislature to pursue a career in politics, I applied for candidacy because the job had to be done, and no one stepped up to do it. I know many people in my community, and when the community arounds me announces that they want you to be their representative, it is your duty to say yes.

It's a question that I can provide an answer for, but even in real life, one cannot prove the authenticity. One would have to know me as a person, and a lot of the people on this forum do know me personally (not beyond the game, of course). Citizen service is a duty, and the least I can do to my constituency is do the job the right way, while not being corrupt, and immoral.

As for doing wrong, I cannot promise that I will be perfect, but I can promise my best, and only my best.

Thank you for your questions.

Hello, Amy. Severisen, aka Detective Figs, here.

Did you have a different forum account in The Pacific that I'm not aware of? The one I found, Asmith, has 4 posts total--1 was the cit app, 2 were spam, and the other was an RP Map claim. Where did you participate in the legislature there? In addition, you have 10 posts on their Regional Message Board.

In addition, that account was only established at the very end of September, meaning it's only about 2 months old as of today. 4 posts in two months does not inspire confidence that you can provide the spark of activity here in Osiris you are claiming. Granted, you've gotten 9 posts here and 15 on the RMB in the last 8 days, so maybe that's a start.

You have a grand total of 2 NS Forum posts, both on the same failed piece of legislation, in support of a badge hunting WASC Troll. Again, I am yet to be inspired.

I have not been able to find your account in Lazarus, so I can't verify experience there. Can you provide a link there? I found 8 RMB posts from nearly 2 years ago there. I know the other two candidates, both here in Osiris and elsewhere in NationStates. I know you only in our brief telegram exchanges and what you've written here so far, so I'm interested in knowing more about what you have actually done rather than what you say you can or will do.

It seems you were also located in the region of "United Kingdom," though you've failed to mention that as experience, so it must not be worth mentioning.

We like newcomers, so do not take these questions, or statements, as hostile. More important is that we need longevity and someone willing to stick it out.

What would cause you to leave Osiris? What would make you want to stay? If you fail to win election here, what would your contribution to the region be? You could do most of what you propose without being Keeper already.

Thanks for enlightening me, Amy.

For Osiris,
Severisen

The fact that Amy has not replied to Sev is extremely troubling. I was even considering to vote for her. Sad.

So, let's just say a few things on this matter:

So to start, you're obviously not a State Senator. Not much more to say there, nobody even remotely capable enough to get elected to a State Senate would then go on a random internet forum and start swinging that around.

Further on, you've evidently not spent much time in NS, or are just really bad at this. Both Severisen's research, and your post prove that, given that the drivel you're currently posting reads in no way as somebody who has "years of experience". Hell, you're not even spelling it properly, using "Nation States" as if it's some sort of two-word phrase. So, assuming that my previous analysis is correct, that's lie #2 from you. Bad start, lass, but it just gets better from here. Honestly, even if we look at your nation's population, it speaks for all we need to know. 3.24 billion equates to roughly a year and a half. That ain't "many years". Nothing more needs to be said on that. There's more though, don't worry.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Your post, your PM, as well as your answers to these questions, are some of the most overly-buzzworded political drivel I have ever witnessed; and this is coming from somebody who bases most of their campaigns off of three cutesy buzzwords with platforms beneath each one of them. Hell, even if you do have some sort of real-life track record, that doesn't matter for shit. You want to get ahead in an NS region? Put in time, put in dedication, and do a bit more than run campaigns filled with drivel and buzzwords. You know how to chair committees? Great shit, I couldn't give two fucks. I'm electing somebody I can trust, and that comes from hard work and spending time in a region. Don't give me the business owner shit either. Again, you could be the goddamn CEO of a Fortune 500, but if you're joining a region I'm in then you're earning my vote through time and dedication like every single other person. You're not entitled to this position through RL stuff, nor do you deserve it any more because of them.

Don't worry, I'm not done yet though. I need to address a quote:
"We are a war-torn, tired, and a weary region. But we can't mistake that with cowardice or worry. I see this exhaustion, and I although it is a shame that corruption, and malice, and a complete lack of regard for democracy cascaded this region into a sea of confusion.
Excuse me? Don't even pretend to know Osiris, alright? I've been in this region longer than what I believe is any other active citizen, so I'm pretty sure I'm in a good spot to sit on my high horse and lecture you on this topic. I've been tried for treason four times, eventually fully pardoned, seen many Pharaohs and many regimes come and go, fought through at least two coups, ran the military for a good while, and served as this regions Pharaoh for two consecutive terms. Hell, I might even qualify for "Old Guard" status at this point. War-Torn, Tired, and Weary? Osiris has consistently been one of the most stable GCRs since the regime change that put the Osiris Fraternal Order in power, to call us war-torn is excessive as fuck. Tired and Weary? We're a Sinker, that's basically our daily life. And are you honestly going to come in here, one week fresh, and start calling out against corruption, malice, and democracy? First of all, hello, welcome to Nationstates, corruption is a staple, malice is a way of life, and Democracy is overrated. However, we've been pretty good at not having any of those, unless you count hailing the Brotherhood of Malice as our saviors for bringing the OFO into existence. If you're going to go on an ideological campaign against such buzzwords, pick a more naive region eh?

Finally, because I'm honestly just on a good streak now and don't want to kill it, your proposal to require all citizens to have a WA nation is a crock of shit. Are you telling me that I really need to prove my worth as a citizen by also putting my WA here? WA membership in a region should be applauded sure, but let's not put it on a silver platter or anything. Whether it's R/D, serving in a WA position elsewhere, or simply not feeling like having it there, there's plenty of reasons for a WA not to be in a region. Hell, if you're advocating for democracy so much I would've thought that you'd be advocating for our civil freedom to put our World Assembly nation where we please.

To end, this campaign may be one of the most buzzword-filled, deceiving, and just generally nausea-inducing campaigns I have seen on Nationstates yet and I'd strongly encourage Amy to try to get involved more and just be a top class citizen rather than trying to jump into this election with a ton of crazy claims and politician-esque answers to simple questions. Don't take this as some sort of hostile post, please, more like a very extensive critical review of what I see as an individual who needs to really be taught on how this game actually works.
