THE COURT OF THE PSCHENT
DECLARATION OF JUDGMENT
Presiding Elder: Joshua Ravenclaw, Pharaoh-Emeritus

1st March 2015, Palace of the Pschent Findings of the Elder

The Presiding Elder has found that the Defendant, former Councilor Ridersyl has admitted to being complicit in the crashing and damage to a forum belonging to another region, the Association of Imperialism.

The Elder has noted that the Defendant has previously been a candidate in an election for Pharaoh of the Osiris Fraternal Order, as well as an appointee for the Scribe of War under the newly elected Pharaoh, Tim Montresor-Stark. The date of crimes fall within the election for the Pharaoh, suggesting that these actions were committed by the Defendant in full knowledge of the time-line.

Given that two people mentioned in this thread are or were, citizens of the Osiris Fraternal Order, one must not shirk away from the fact that this would have severely damaged Osiran credibility and prompted a damaging backlash against our region had we not condemned these acts. Forum destruction of any kind is a heinous and vile crime, and is the most serious, if not one of, crimes that can be committed in NationStates. It goes beyond the remit of the game and causes actual damage to various communities that have often had many hours spent on their upkeep and construction.

The Osiris Fraternal Order has come a long way from the ruins of a failed state, and has worked hard at fostering a united ground between various groups from a damaged community. Forum destruction goes against everything this community has ever stood for, it was with great regret in December 2013 that we migrated to a new forum in order to start afresh. We left by choice because it was necessary for the community at the time, and that board still stands.

The Elder has noted that the Defendant is a person who is respected by people alike regardless of their Gameplay alignment, which makes their actions to be even more horrific. This is an abuse of trust, and one that no amount of remorse can erase. The Court can only go so far in passing a sentence against this citizen but the far greater damage and far greater sentence will be the permanent damage of trust this region, and many other regions will have of him.

The Elder will now address the Defendant:

Your actions, and attempts to cover them, to manipulate the Government of Osiris and many others into covering your tracks was horrific. You admitted liability and fault when faced with no other options, and realising that a Delete on Sight person had evidence in multiple facets of your criminality, you attempted to smear him - claiming they had been manipulated and manufactured by him. I saw them with my own eyes and your growing defensiveness raised questions that only your confession confirmed.

You have expressed remorse for your actions and a Councilor has attempted to speak in your defence. He claims you were manipulated and I disagree: you acted under your own free will and thus you shall take those consequences. The Legal Codex of this region is clear in how I must proceed, and you should expect a custodial sentence as much as any that can be passed in NationStates.

The Elder has decided on the following:

Citizen Ridersyl, you have been found Guilty under Osiran law on the charge of Forum Destruction. I am dismissing the charge of Conspiracy to Commit Forum Destruction as I do not feel evidence has been presented to adequately prove the charge is necessary.

Although at no time has the board security of this forum been under threat, I am forced to take account of your actions when considering future threats. I have asked the Root Administrator to restrict you from holding any Moderator or Administrator positions on this board for the duration of its lifetime.

In line with the Criminal Codex and the State Code of Osiris, I am also ordering that you are to be exiled from the in-game region for a period not exceeding one year. You are also to be banned from the community board for that period.

You are prohibited from maintaining any access to any nation residing inside the region of Osiris. You are forbidden to hold Diplomatic Credentials, a Cultural Gatepass or Citizenship of the Osiris Fraternal Order for a period of fifteen months, to run concurrently to your exile.

You will be assessed, should you choose to apply for citizenship, diplomatic masking or a cultural gatepass by the Pharaoh and the Root Administrator (or a chosen member of the Administration Team) to decide whether you pose a risk to the safety of this community/forum. If they believe at any time that you are a risk, then they may deny your application.

You may appeal this ruling to the Appeals Court, through a representative within the next thirty days. (Edited from seven)

I hope that you think deeply about what has happened here, what you have given up and what so rt of reputation you wish to leave behind. Osiris expects better from its citizens and through your own actions you have damaged your own standing and your credibility in a region which has zero tolerance for these acts. Perhaps one day you will be considered again, as a trusted member of Osiris, time will tell.

I fully agree with, comprehend, and understand all that you have stated above. My punishment is deserved. My signature, which I have had for quite a while now, is meant to be a message to those currently participating or those that come during my exile from the OFO.

Let this be an example to everyone; No matter how many friends you have, no matter how popular you are, no matter how many connections you've got, you cannot get away with such heinous things. Do not make the mistake I did, no matter what justification you feel you have. Being thoughtless in the moment doesn't excuse it, either.

I thank the Chief Elder and The Court for residing over my case fairly and without prejudice.

As noted you have thirty days to appeal, I am going on GMT, therefore the final appeal date will be the 31st of March 2015, 5am. I have asked that the Administration Team wait for the Root Administrator before you are banned from this board.
