Opening Address of the The Almighty Jesus Whale

Wow. I’m still mildly in shock, twelve some hours later, regarding the results of the election. When I first stumbled across NationStates some three years ago, I always looked at GCR delegates with pure awe. Powerful individuals entrusted to lead and protect their respective communities. I never thought that I would one day arise to such a position, and I was content in the fact that I served as the delegate of a UCR of a few dozen nations. And then I came to Osiris.

The open and welcoming community drew me in, and I became a councilor relatively quickly and within time I arose to the position of Guardian of the Atef. And less than a year later, I was elected Pharaoh of this great region. This is the beauty of Osiris. We have the upward mobility that players crave and the hospitality that makes them stay. Sure, we’ve had our bumps and faults, but we as a community must strive to smooth those bumps and fix those faults. Building, repairing, and strengthening bridges, not burning them.

Today I am here before you as the next in a growing line of elected Pharaohs. Now, I stand here with the knowledge that I was not everyone’s first choice for the position. In fact, I know I was the last choice of more of you than I am comfortable with. I am not a perfect man; I will be the first to admit that I do have some faults, every Whale has their sins, or fins I should say. However, for all of my faults, I am a fighter who will fight for Osiris against those who seek to do her harm either internally or externally.

One of the points I emphasized strongly in my campaign thread was my desire to be the Pharaoh of Osiris, not the Pharaoh of a small few. I thank those who supported me as their first preference, and I promise to those who ranked me lower or dead last, I will be your Pharaoh. I will work tirelessly to prove to you that I will be your Pharaoh. Community will be the cornerstone of my term and you’ll soon grow sick of it because of how much I will trumpet it.

My opponents ran excellent campaigns and I have no doubt that Osiris would be in extremely gifted and talented hands with them. They ran good and fair campaigns, that emphasized substance over rhetoric and empty promises. They know how to put Osiris first. I hope that they continue to be very active and contributive members to Osiris and continue the good work that they do.

I have ambitious plans for Osiris in the next three months and I hope that you will join me in this grand endeavour. We are a solid community, but I do believe we have room to grow. This is because the only way for Osiris is up and forward, with room to evolve and become even greater than we are now. We will work to cure the crippling inactivity that plagues us, we will bring the Legion back from the brink, we will revive Osiran culture, and we will reform the government to become an outlet for all those who wish to contribute and we will facilitate their contributions so that they may give to the fullest extent that they can.

On a final note, I would like to take aim at one particular theme that came up during this election cycle. The ‘us and them’. There is no us, and there is no them. We are all Osirans, and we all want what is best for Osiris. We may disagree over what is best, but each and every one of us brings something that will only benefit Osiris. We must emphasize our common goals and ideas and stop focusing on our disagreements and blowing them out of proportion. We all want the best for Osiris, so let’s put our heads together and do just that.

Soon I will submit nominations regarding my Hedjet and the Pschent as well as legislation to create and define the Integration Corps. The mission to reform and save Osiris begins now, and I thank you all for entrusting me to lead it. I sincerely hope that each and every one of you helps in this massive undertaking and give it 110% of what you can give, as I know I will.

Now onto the fun stuff. I will be leaving the Scribe of Foreign Affairs vacant as I believe I can manage it without too much hassle. And I plan to bring back the Foreign Policy Advisory Committee to assist in that area. If that proves to be wrong, I will appoint a Scribe. Culture is being divvied up to compensate for the vigorous programs I have planned, and will have its responsibilities reshaped and remolded.

Vizier: Waiting confirmation
Scribe of Justice: Shadoke
Scribe of Culture: Andrew
Scribe of Communal Activities: Yuno
Scribe of Integration: Revall
Scribe of Media: Ike
Scribe of WA Affairs: Tomb
Scribe of War: Kyorgia
Scribe of Security: Severisen

As soon as my other three people get on and give responses, I'll have their names and then I'll put up a thread. Expect that sometime tonight or tomorrow.

More will be said about the nominees in their respective threads.

Once again, thank you Osiris, I will not fail you.

(Or try not to burn out too badly :P)

Good luck. I wish I could tell you any of this is going to be easy, or even bearable. You will want to tear your hair out and wonder why nothing you're doing is working. That's a promise, as a former Pharaoh.

No, seriously, good luck. If what you're saying here is truly what you want to accomplish, I hope you can. We'd all be better off.

My request is that you do a good job. And endotart. Don't be like the more somnolent of your predecessors.

Xoriet's advice of this Pharaoh term is: When life gives you a lemon tree (Osiris), have a lot of sugar (self-awareness, patience, and restraint) on hand when you want to make lemonade (accomplishing your goals in a strongly opinionated region).

Translated as: Be a Pharaoh that Osiris can respect, and don't discriminate against people who disagree with you. ^_^

Regents?
[6/3/2016 19:34:30] Lord Mazrim Rahl (Biyah): obviously she was gathering spell regents, so she could cast her end-of-term mass death spell. Young sorceress' must kill their Master before they are allowed to leave.
[6/3/2016 19:35:52] Gradea Sanguine: Makes sense
[6/3/2016 19:36:39] Lord Mazrim Rahl (Biyah): Hence, pray she learns well and doesn't have a dunce as a teacher... else the next generation that kills her will be weak, snobby and only half-trained. That is how society falls
[6/3/2016 19:37:30] Lord Mazrim Rahl (Biyah): I am a proud member of MAWS. Men against weak sorcerers/eses

Koth speaks true on this.

And I'll add something in that I learned: Do not be afraid to be tough on your cabinet. If they aren't performing, or a specific minister isn't performing as they should and aren't responding to you or whatever, you can act. Osiris needs the cabinet active and involved, and the Pharaoh has the authority to remove Ministers without the Deshret needing to approve it (I didn't.)

The cabinet is meant to serve Osiris, but they have a duty to work hard and fulfil the tasks and goals that the Pharaoh has set them for the advancement of Osiris too.

Good luck. :)
