Hello fellow Councilors :) I am running for a third term as Keeper.

In my two terms as Keeper, I would say I havent done pretty bad job, but I'll let y'all be the judges of that. In the four months of my tenure, it is my judgement that the Deshret has engaged in diligent debate over legislation. We have passed various measures such as two amendments to our State Code, made the first steps to peace with our sister sinker Lazarus, and repealed the near one-year old Colonies and Territories Act.

As Keeper, one of my campaign promises in my first term was to replicate the efforts Ainocra made during his tenure, by actively promoting the government of Osiris by encouraging nations to become citizens and join the Deshret, through the RMB and TG's. Though at times it seemed as though these efforts would give little fruit, in recent weeks, we have seen new face join the our community, and the ranks of our Deshret. I will endeavour to continue these efforts and communication with newer members, to greater assure their continued membership, if I am re-elected.

I would also like to address my future activity and any concerns others may have regarding so, as I assume they may. As the holidays are ending, some people are returning to school or work, things in NationStates, but in particular Osiris, many become less active. To my current knowledge, there is nothing preventing me from fully serving another terms as Keeper. My schedule may be busy, but not so busy as to render it difficult to complete the tasks and responsibilities of being Keeper.

I hope that my fellow colleagues see fit to re-elect me to a third term and I proceed to take questions :)

By what specific means do you intend to improve the Osiran body of law?

Make it better than it is now, of course. What proposals should be brought forth to make Osiran law more effective, more impressive, more comprehensive?

I see. Well my answer to that is that I alone cannot accomplish all these things as Keeper. I am one individual in a body of various others. When you ask how I intend 'Make it better than it is now' I wonder how I can manage to do this.

So far our laws and the Deshret have been effective, and insufficiencies have been swiftly dealt with. We repealed the Colonies and Territories Act after having no current need of any colonies, we struck the mandatory justice ministry clause from the State Code, and resulting from that are currently voting on legislation outlining the procedures of prosecution under certain circumstances. Deshreti Membership is also on a rise. Osiran Law is simple and effective compared to other regional laws; many issues have been promptly addressed by the Deshret.

The continued effectiveness and comprehensiveness of both the Deshret and Osiran Law, ultimately, rests with the Deshret. Yes, as Keeper I do play a part in that. I handle the administrative matters by supervising and managing debate. I can promote, and handle legislation and the Deshret as a collective body. But making the law more effective, impressive and comprehensive, that falls on the Councillors of the Deshret.

I think for Osiran law to be more comprehensive, more impressive is to take a broad approach to legislating, such as making Osiran law more complex. For example, legislating on the release of information from the executive and/or the judiciary, legislating on regional emergencies and security legislation, or making law(s) on a military doctrine. Such things would keep the Deshret active for sometime, perhaps insure the future activity of this legislature, and perhaps make things more interesting around here.

However, the question is, is Osiris willing to embrace this, and all that comes with it? We have seen regions who have such complex legal systems. Despite the advantages that may bring, the complexity, the drama and bullsh*t that such systems bring intimidate and/or put off some individuals. Osiris is considered inactive by many but some people, who are actually a part of our community, perhaps enjoy the more laxed and simple environment of Osiris. So it begs the question is Osiris willing to embrace a more comprehensive and complex legal system, and all that comes with it?: a decision that rests with the Deshret. I, as well as others, can propose such legislation but it is not by ourselves we make it law.

I hope that in this rather lengthy reply I have answered your question. I cannot improve the Osiran body of law or make it better than it is now, alone. Alone, I can only propose, promote and drive such changes, but not enact them.
