Your stance on The West Pacific?

Post by Getti »

I have recently been involving myself more and more in the politics of GCR's, more recently making my return to The West Pacific which was the last GCR I participated in before going inactive. I believe a community like the one we have here in Osiris, is the perfect group to have conversation on topics involving other regions and their affairs.

Much has changed since the last time I was in The West Pacific. Looking upon the community of a much more stable GCR like Osiris, I want to see what are your thoughts on the future of The West Pacific.

Highlighted by Unibot in his article on The West Pacific http://www.westpacific.org/forums/index ... entry23711 , I think the region is either set to become under full control of Milograd or it will become Imperialist. I doubt the region has nearly enough internal cohesion to retain its independent stance in the future.

What are your thoughts on this situation, if any?

As long as TWP doesn't go Lazarus or TRR, I think we should ally. Either way I would like to have good relations.

I believe this war, therefore, should not be a matter of raiding and defending. It's a matter of moral decency. Don't wear tights. Don't live in forests. Don't dress up and roleplay as animals. It's wrong, and the LKE is taking the initiative to exterminate this horrible organization.

I will always have kind of a soft spot for TWP, due to the fact that my first nation was started there and participated a little bit in the Game-side community

I can't imagine that Milograd would take the region in the direction of Lazarus.

But I don't really know the guy too well. :ermm:

TWP does not historically recognise the legitimacy of off-site governments, so I'm curious how that would work.

I am a bit confused as to exactly what you mean? I obviously understand what you are stating, however Darekesia whom is the current TWP delegate, also happens to be an administrator on the TWP website and is recognized as the delegate on the TWP website.

Sigh.

The West Pacific's historical view is that the Delegate is the supreme power in a region. They only recognise game mechanics. They do not view off-site communities as anything important. Their own forum - owned by Winnepieg, is a place which is mainly for games and discussion.

I've had the conversation about this several times with successive TWP governments. That is the way they work. Darkesia adheres to the same view.

You would think, but Llamas is trying to change that.

Look, he's not an Osiran so I doubt he'll see it, and even if he does, it's my honest opinion as a friend. He's a great person, but I don't think he's taking the region the right way. The TRR article said he might become the Delegate one day, and if he does, I'm afraid he'll politicize everything and focus on gameplay and nothing else, no roleplay or banter. When I told him I was trying to start a roleplay region, instead of declining to send a puppet, he tried to convince me to bring my community (which is comprised of 2 people currently :p) to TWP. He's trying to make everything about the feeders, and that's not something I want.

As a current resident of TWP, I have to say that things are slow moving. The old guard is reluctant about the radical changes being brought to the table, and most RP activity is stalling. I think I'll leave sometime this year, but I don't really have anywhere else to go. Aside from Osiris, of course. <3

All in all, okay region, unique in the whole forumless government thing, probably best to stay that way, in danger of not staying that way.
"Regarding couping, whatever crappy track records I may have on other matters, I have never supported a coup against a Feeder or Sinker. I have opposed every coup that has been perpetrated against a Feeder or Sinker during my time in NationStates, including the NPO coup against Lazarus. There's no reason to believe I would coup and every reason to believe I wouldn't, but I know I won't convince anyone who is predisposed to thinking I'm bad news, so that's all I have to say on the matter."
