Proposed Amendment to the State Code

Post by Ainocra »

Howabout this?

[3. The Pharaoh will have the power to appoint or remove any citizen as a senior cabinet official, styled Scribes of the Hedjet. Appointment of Scribes must be approved by the Deshret. Junior cabinet officials may be appointed at the discretion of the relevant Scribe.]3

[(a) The ministries that oversee Defense, Foreign Affairs, Justice and Culture will be mandatory Hedjet positions which must have a Scribe assigned to oversee them.]5

On recess appointments how about allowing the previous hedjet to continue to serve at the pleasure of the Pharaoh until the new one is confirmed?
Perhaps get the outgoing to coordinate with the incoming and such. maybe I'm over thinking it

just another thought....

In some cases there was no one to fill a ministry, in other cases the ministries were inactive. In some cases the Pharaoh, in the case I'm referring to, myself, chose to handle the duties of the Ministry (FA) and had to name themselves as scribe in order to do it as it was a mandatory ministry. Which is just silly.

I support the ability of the Pharaoh to structure their cabinet however they see fit... let's remember that when I was Pharaoh, I couldn't even sack my scribes without Deshret consent.

I will be voting against any such bill that enforces mandatory ministries. Let the Pharaoh decide what is necessary for the executive: they are elected by the Deshret, have their choices approved or denied by the Deshret and are already very accountable to the region. I do not see why the Deshret wishes to mandate ministries, I can only see this as a preclude to the Deshret deciding to elect the cabinet or appoint people themselves - two further things I wouldn't support.

Before trying to bring this up to vote I would like input from the Pharaoh as well as other past Pharaohs. Raven's reservations do give me pause I'm still not convinced though.

I have to agree with Raven. I think the Pharaoh should have the ability to structure his cabinet as he sees fit, without having to worry about finding various suitable appointments for the mandatory ministries.

I absolutely agree with Raven in this case. I believe that cabinet positions should be only as extensive as the Pharaoh desires. The executive doesn't have much as it is, let's not take even more away.

If this was to go to vote, I would be solidly against. You know, if I was actually a member of the Deshret :$

His Majesty Ambroscus Koth Vytherov, Hasal-Pharaoh, Bru'uh of Osiris
Khetemtai in the House of Sekhmet
Recipient of the Crown of Osiris
Recipient of the Violet Jewel of Atum
