My nominee for Scribe of Apis (Media), Jack Dawkins, has withdrawn from the position. I will update the OP to reflect that.

I will have a new nominee for that position soon.

Sorry for the double post. Zaolat has been nominated for Scribe of Apis (Media) and the OP now reflects this nomination.

I have no problem with Zao being Scribe of Media.

I feel it's my duty to weigh in here regarding Treize as vizier. I am the one who nominated him to the Atef and he was confirmed as such under my term as Pharaoh. I've worked closer with him over the past 8 months than anyone else in this region except Cormac. In fact, we play a game together outside of NationStates and it requires us to trust one another fully in order to really win. He told me that his days of destruction are behind him, and that he's ready to build. His actions in the past 8 months have done nothing to disprove that. He has my trust, and will have my vote. He had many opportunities to coup during the past 3 months but never took advantage of them. When he made that statement, Venico, that he should not be let near the delegacy, it was very early on in the OFO's history, and not so long after his initial coup. Given the opportunity to answer that question today, I think he'd have a different answer, and not just because it's what he wants us to hear. I'm one of the least trusting people that I know, and I believe that he means what he says. He wants to build this region and this community.

He was also one of the most helpful, if not the most, in building the KRO. I'd prefer that Osiris doesn't get known for having a Durk, like with TNP. If we're stupid enough to let Treize into the delegacy, we deserve to be couped.

As a new member of this region, I don't have the context to fully understand why there is such resistance to Cormac's nomination of Treize to serve as Vizier. However, I do know that this body voted by overwhelming margins in support of Cormac as Pharoah. The Deshret has expressed extreme confidence in his ability to lead Osiris and in his sound judgement. After granting Cormac such an overwhelming mandate in favor of his agenda, which we all had an opportunity to review in detail, the Deshret now has a responsibility to confirm the individuals that Cormac believes are most qualified to successfully implement this agenda. As a general rule, I feel that a legislature should be willing to give a newly elected executive the benefit of the doubt when considering his nominations which is why I am prepared to vote in favor of all of the individuals he has nominated.

Treize, also known as Douria, purged our region, attacked it, and handed it off to be a colony of Gatesville in the Summer of 2013. With severe apprehension has he been let back into the region and after a few month's of work he's almost in the same position to attack our region again. Not to mention that due to influence decay, and the civil war between Empire, we do not have the same high influence nations that we used to in this region which would mean a rogue delegate or a potential couper has the ability to lock down the region easier than Douria had it last time.

It's up to Councilors how to vote, but "abstain" doesn't really tell either me or the opposition to the Vizier nomination anything useful. If the nomination either passes or fails by a narrow margin with a large number of abstentions, we're no more certain of the will of the Deshret than we were when the nomination was made.

This is your Vice Pharaoh. This is the person who stands in for me if I'm absent, who takes the Delegacy in an emergency if I'm absent and the Atef approves it, who actually becomes Pharaoh until a new election can be held should I resign or be removed from office. I'm sorry, but every member of the Deshret should have an opinion and a vote on that. If you're worried about making someone angry, I can't speak for Treize or for the opposition to his nomination, but I'm far more perplexed and disheartened by votes of "abstain" than I am by "nay" votes. At least the latter tell me something useful.
