Vac for Keeper

Post by Vaculatestar »

Hey everyone, unlike CSP I'm not a newcomer. First off to lay out what I've done abroad legislatively, I'll spare you all the list of executive positions unless you're dying to know. :P

The New Galactic Empire:
1st Appointed Representative under the current legislative system
Chancellor of the Senate
Recently Finished up being the Interim Chancellor of the Senate in between the last Chancellor resigning and the Special Election which ended about four hours ago ended
Current Vice Chancellor
And of course I have proposed numerous pieces of legislation

United Kingdom:
1 term as a Lord of Parliament
2 terms as a Member of Parliament
I've proposed several pieces of legislation which are currently shaping the regions military future

Kingdom of Great Britain:
3 Terms as a Member of Parliament
2 Terms as a Lord of Parliament (soon to be appointed to a third)(I have also served in every session of Parliament in this region to date)

Balder:
Riksdag (we all know what this is :P )

Here I've served in the Deshret pretty much since I got here and am the Council General and am a member of the Sekhmet Legion.

Legislating:
OK here's the deal. In spite of what you think of British Regions, United Kingdom has one of the most, if not the most in depth, complex, and developed legal system in the entire game. My current style of legislating has been shaped their as well as by seeing how people legislate here and in Balder. I don't legislate for the sake of it and to give the mask of activity. No, that only leads to long term issues. I legislate because it is going to make the region better by not only fix the symptoms of whatever problem we are tackling, but it will also fix the source of the problem so that future citizens of this great region don't gotta deal with them.

Doin' my job:
You can expect me to NOT go inactive. Ask anyone here. I am around on a regular basis. At the very most I take a day off from NS (lets face it we all need one every once in a while :P ), and when I commit to a job, I don't do it half ass, I take it all the way until its done, and I'll be damned if I didn't do whatever I could to ensure that the job was done as well as anyone could have done it.

Legislative Agenda:
I wish to completely review the State Code. I think most people around here believe that the State Code is bloated, complex, and way to particular for the equivalent of a Constitution. This shouldn't codify everything into law, it should act as a guide when we are legislating, making in the minute decisions in cabinet meetings, and when we go about our daily business.

I will now take questions.

As this has already been asked of CSP, if you had to change one thing about the Procedure, what would it be and why?

You mention that the State Code is bloated. What specifically would you change and why?

What other legislative priorities do you think the Deshret should pursue this term?

Best of luck in your campaign!

How active do think an ideal keeper should be? (i.e. Once a week, twice a week, once a month, etc.)

the State Code is bloated
It's inevitable that we would agree on some things but did you really have to straight up plagiarize my platform? :P

@CSP, this is said outside of just this campaign, are those people plagiarizing to?

@Venico: Pretty much every day. I do what I can to check in on the regions I'm in regularly (by regularly I do mean daily), but I'm also always on skype when I'm using my computer so if something is up while I'm not necessarily on the forum someone can tell me. Now I also understand that stuff comes up (like that one day I went into the hospital, didn't log in to NS at all after I got back :P )

@James: Thanks :D

@Cormac: Yes:
4. Councilors of the Deshret may vote aye, in favor of a proposal; nay, against a proposal; or present, indicating a vote neither in favor nor against but that one has participated in the vote for the purpose of retaining membership in the Deshret.
I'm honestly not a fan of codifying how we vote like that. What if I say content, or in favor, or as I saw someone do once elsewhere, "in favourem"? Does the vote not count? In my opinion this needs to be changed so that it allows us to vote how we please as long as our vote represents a vote for, against, or an abstain/present stance on the matter at hand, and yes it would be up to the Keeper to decide if someone was to off the wall with how they were voting.
