Ma'at Kheru: Moratorium on Animal Testing

Post by Treize Dreizehn »

Moratorium on Animal Testing

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Elke and Elba

Description: NOTING that animals are an integral part of the environment and provide many essential functions to the natural regulation of the environment, also,

RECOGNISING that animals themselves have rights that should be and must be enforced too,

UNDERSTANDING that there are other forms of testing available including but not limited to, medical imaging through microdosing, computer simulation, testing on tissue and cell culture,

FURTHER UNDERSTANDING that due to the presence of such advances in technology today, the use of animal testing is unjustified and unwarranted as these other forms of testing are more humane as compared to animal testing,

The World Assembly,

ENCOURAGES member states to enforce a ban on animal experimentation, especially on practices which are painful and/or excessively harmful to animals;

FURTHER ENCOURAGES member states enact laws on to decrease and/or eliminate animal experimentation in their respective jurisdiction to bring private companies and corporations into compliance, yet;

REQUESTS all member states to provide adequate living conditions for animals being experimented on;

FURTHER REQUESTS member states provide adequate after-experiment care, palliative or otherwise, for animals that have outlived their purpose in experiments;

URGES member states to invest in research to find additional ways to conduct testing, and;

FURTHER URGES member states share such research with other nations.

Against!

Animals are just things we use to test our stuff. They're not part of all those great humanist principles.
