The Department of Foreign and Diplomatic Affairs

Post by Lord Ravenclaw »

= The Department for Foreign & Diplomatic Affairs =

Grand Temple of Horus (formerly Anubis) Complex, Alexandria
The following is a notice that was read out by a Herald outside of the Temple of Horus on Friday, 13 December 2013 regarding the change in administration, employment and departmental structure:

The Diplomat-General would like to remind citizens that the Department of Foreign and Diplomatic Affairs is still in business... that is to say, just because the riots have rendered the Temple of Anubis unusable due to fire damage does not mean that the department has shut down.

The Temple of Horus, located in the North West of the complex is still operational and has been revamped to take over the daily duties of the Temple of Anubis, in a change from its previous duties of archival and artefact storage and is now open to the public.

There was catastrophic damage to the Temple of Anubis including structural damage to the Office of the former Vizier, Lord Ravenclaw with many important scrolls being lost in the fire, thankfully most, if not all of the essential documents were copied to a safe archive away from the eyes of certain foreign agents operating in the old Temple.

The Diplomat-General is thus far saddened at the loss of the Temple of Anubis and in memory to the formerly Grand Temple, he has declared a section of the Temple of Horus to hold a shrine dedicated to Anubis, the messenger god known for delivering the messages of swift upcoming death to the foes of the Pharaoh. This Shrine, will be secured against foreign agents and those who wish harm against our beloved and weathered temple, she will not fall lest we destroy her ourselves.

Over the course of the next week, the Diplomat-General shall be briefed on the state of the Diplomatic Service, many of whom had been recalled from overseas embassies for the December Briefing and were killed when the Temple of Anubis' grand hall was sealed by the rioters and burnt to the ground as the Empire's supporters took to the city of Alexandria in protest to the dismissal and banishments of the Grand Vizier and Vizier of Citizenship from the Capital. There will be a memorial service held in the Shrine of Anubis for all surviving members of the Diplomatic Service, and there will be a box for messages to be submitted to be compiled into a Book of Memories for the families of the deceased.

It has been a grave and difficult time for the families of those serving the Temple, and when the light fades from our skies at night, we shall remember them. Their families, their hard work, their sacrifices for Osiris overseas, surviving alien and foreign cultures to be killed by traitors inside their own home... let us hope that they are at Anubis' side as he guides them to the next life.

Change, can be a positive thing. This is a change that we need to make the best of, and ensure that we use it to its fullest extent, with a clean slate in this aspect of the forum - and without needing to worry about people using sensitive information to gain levity with outside forces who wish harm to our region - with an opportunity that we've never had before to ensure that this department becomes efficient in its appointed task: to represent Osiris properly, and show the wider NationStates community that our way, is the right way. In time, with success, will come acceptance. From that acceptance we can forge a new society for Osiris, and our diplomats will be essential for that task.

I remain yours, most faithfully,
Joshua Ravenclaw
