Statement on Current Events in Osiris

The Republic of Europeia announces today her support for the Pharaoh of Osiris, Venico, in his actions to eject members of "The Empire" from Osiris. We find these actions to give the best chance for Osiris to develop further as a strong, healthy, independent region.

As many in the NationStates community know, for the past year Osiris has been plagued with chronic instability that began with a coup launched by "The Empire". "The Empire" has maintained a tight grip on the region and have resisted reforms by successive Pharaohs aimed at developing a more robust government that can bring Osiris with stability and tranquility. Instead, members of "The Empire" have worked hard to tie the region down to its oligarchic structure which undermined the right of the legitimate government of Osiris to rule her people, and by extension undermining this sinker’s own sovereignty.

We support Venico and his government’s actions to remove members of The Empire in order to ensure the region's stability and success to be essential. While we had initial concerns over the way in which the security arrangement with the Brotherhood of Malice was explained, the Pharaoh has assured President Anumia that Osirian independence is secure.

We are therefore satisfied that the actions taken by the legitimate government of Osiris are in the best interests of Osiris, and in the long run will enable the independence and sovereignty of this sinker to be maintained. The Republic shall join the efforts of the Brotherhood of Malice and others, including our allies such as Balder and The New Inquisition, to support our friends in Osiris in reasserting their independence in the face of challenges from “The Empire”. We stand with our friends in Osiris and sincerely hope for a better Osiris to be created out of this crisis.
