The Se-pāy Nišēm of Guhrayen (Overview | Closed)

Post by Guhrayen »

What's This?
Hi! Welcome to my world building thread for my NS nation, Guhrayen, and its outpost in the Land of the Dead. This thread is currently for my personal use and is closed to other players. This means I will delete posts made by other people in this thread if they don't heed that it is closed (sorry!) so that it can remain dedicated to my world building. Why? So that everyone in the RP can have a one-stop-shop to learn about my nation and its prominent or active roleplay characters whenever they need to for a scenario, before trading, and so on.
The Se-pāy Nišēm of Guhrayen
Overview
Guhrayen, officially the Se-pāy Nišēm of Guhrayen, is a multi-imperial constitute theocracy and a real union of the Empire of Cagad, Sōhistan Empire, and Empire of Hangextan governed by the Triple Seat, which exercises extensive temporal power over its citizen-subjects. For over a century, it has been a regional center of theological study, World Assembly activity, and luxury artisan craft production. The polity's capital and only directly administered territory is Veh-Ardashir.

Geography

The total area of Guhrayen is approximately 801,210 km2, most of which is occupied by the vast shifting sand Abardom Desert at the heart of the Guhrayen Basin. Two mountain ranges to the desert's east and north make up the rest of its terrain. Twenty-five rivers crisscross the nation, though many of them are often dry before they can feed into the Abardom River, the basin's only permanent river and the source of the Abardom Delta, an inland delta notable for the vast wetlands produced by seasonal flooding across the alluvial plain. Endoheric conditions across much of the state have also led to an abundance of salt pans and ancient dry lake beds; some of the latter become lagoons and lakes for a time during years of particularly heavy rainfall in the Basin's southwestern delta area.

Ecoregions in Guhrayen include temperate broadleaf and mixed forests, alpine steppe, meadows, desert, and xeric shrublands.

Fauna

A part of the Guhrayen biota, the animals of the three empires are diverse and uniquely split between the sparsely populated Abardom Desert ecoregions, the temperate deciduous forests which dominate the mountainous north and east of the country, and the wide variety of the Abardom Delta to the country's southwest. Wetlands of the delta and mountainous forests are habitats for a variety of migratory and resident birds, as well as a number of mammal species, such as the Guhrayen deer. Acting as a fluvial lifeline, the Abardom Delta region is by far the most rich in the myriad of species it supports, ranging from big game animals such as the leopard to over 57 species of fish. Meanwhile, the shifting sands of the Abardom Desert are home to gazelles, wild boars, wolves, camel, and jerboas.

Government and Politics

Guhrayen is a theocratic monarchy that exercises significant but not absolute powers over its constituent empires. The Overseer of Emperors (often referred to as the Supreme Overseer), or Spasaka ān Šāh, serves simultaneously as both chief executive and head of state, wielding the powers to veto legislation passed by the members they appoint to the priestly council, nominate members of the state council, command foreign affairs, and initiate all budget proposals. The Spasaka ān Šāh appoints all of the members of the Āsrōīh, the seventy six member strong priestly council of the realm, which serves as its legislative body, for seven year terms. This body is responsible for much of the day-to-day political activity of the Triple Seat and its co-appoints the Wāspuhr, the leader of Guhrayen's common ministries, alongside its ruler.

Each of the three empires maintain many of the domestic lawmaking powers they exercised prior to their unification under Guhrayen and maintain their own governing structures to that effect, despite their powers no longer extending into defense, policing, theological matters, foreign affairs, and some economic matters.

The Temple-Citadel of Musalu
Outpost Overview

The discovery of a portal to the greater realm of the Pharaohs and of Osiris has exacerbated Musalu's withdrawal from day-to-day politics in the Triple Seat and he has relocated his primary residence to the entropic multiversal space of the Land of the Dead.

Guhrayen has focused on utilizing territorial resources for construction of permanent dwellings for its settlers since entering the Land of the Dead. The centerpiece of this effort has been the creation of a sprawling temple-citadel complex, from which Musalu presides over an increasingly large staff with their eyes set on the World Assembly staff, issuing guidance to the leaders of nations across Osiris when they deem it appropriate and providing analysis for the Pharaoh's Court.
