The Veto Act is now at vote. Voting will conclude at 02:10 PM EST on Friday 31st January.

This is an amendment to the Scroll of Horus and as such it will require a two-thirds vote to pass the Council of Scribes.
Citizens may vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

A reminder that Guardians are not eligible to vote in the Council of Scribes on constitutional amendments, as Guardians vote on such amendments separately in the Council of Guardians.

The Veto Act
Article I, Section (6) of the Scroll of Horus shall be amended

(6) The Chief Scribe will promptly present all legislation passed by the Council of Scribes to the Pharaoh for consideration.The Pharaoh may then grant or withhold assent, but only legislation to which the Pharaoh has granted assent will become enacted law. The Pharaoh may sign bills passed by the Council of Scribes into law or veto them.

The following shall be amended into the Scroll of Horus as Article I, Sections (6) and (7) and all subsequent sections appropriately renumbered

(6) The Pharaoh shall have an absolute veto on bills that amend the Scroll of Horus. Absolute vetos may not be overturned by the Council of Scribes.
(7) The Pharaoh shall have a suspensive veto on bills that do not amend the Scroll of Horus that may be overridden by a two-thirds majority of the Council of Scribes.

On Friday 31st January at 02:10 PM EST the Council of Scribes vote to Pass, by a vote of 5-0-1, The Veto Act. As it is a constitutional amendment a vote by the Council of Guardians is required before the Pharaoh can be asked to give their assent.
