It was a mistake on my part.

And so we have the prosecution admitting that they have made mistakes, in their rush to charge the defendant with anything they can. This sting operation has been, at every stage, very odd, and weirdly executed. Now the prosecution has openly admitted to not even bothering to properly consider which charges should be levelled at my client. i have demonstrated above that Sedition was a nonsense charge, and that Espionage is no better. As for treason, Rach has been a faithful servant to Osiris, and done as she has been asked to do, even when those tasks were somewhat odd.

And so we do come to the supposed "Treason." Has Rach ever refused to obey the Pharaoh's will, as a government official in Osiris, at any point outside of this alleged incident?

I am only human. There was no rush, in fact, it pained me to bring these charges. I wallowed in them for some days, making sure that the evidence was gathered. In my stress and my desire to make sure every i and t was dotted in the evidence gathering and the overall process, I regret that I did not make the proper charges in the first place.

It is good leadership, to recognize mistakes, own up to them and try to correct them. I did and have done so. The proper charges are now in place. I stand by Treason and Espionage.

Not to my knowledge, no. Previous to all of this I counted Rach among our most loyal citizens.

I now invite the prosecution to present their closing arguments and sentence recommendations

I, like the people of Osiris, am a victim

First, betrayed by someone I considered a friend, someone who I trusted with important tasks to keep Osiris running, someone who I thought loved Osiris as much as I do. Rachael was all of these things until I found out that she lied and plotted behind my back to have me overthrown.

I urge the Priests to consider the actual evidence.

I have discord logs showing that Rachael, 1) tried to incite one of our friends to participate in a coup against me 2) tried to encourage other citizens of Osiris to participate in a coup and 3) came up with a bald-faced lie that I had ordered a strike on a protectorate of our dearest friends.

The defense has nothing. Nothing but a completely made-up story that involves scheming, intrigue and a plot twist that would make even the most action-packed movies jealous. And that is exactly where those actions belong, on screen. Never, throughout my entire tenure in Osiris have I exhibited such disregard for the trust of any citizen of Osiris. I have also never felt the need to "test" anyone's loyalty especially not that of two upstanding members of Osiris and one of our closest allies.

The defense would have you believe that I targeted these specific people because of family ties. First, I would like to note that I didn't even know Ham and Rach were a part of the same family. Second, if that were true why would I include my own family? Ark and I are both children of Halo.

The defense would have you believe that I was careless in rushing through the charges and bringing this case forward. I regret my own misunderstanding, however, I have corrected these mistakes. Treason makes sense because, as the logs show, Rachael did in fact try to incite a coup. Espionage because she willfully leaked information that would have been considered confidential and pertaining to the interest of Osiris.

There was never a strike ordered on Christmas. Why? Because it belongs to our dearest allies. But it doesn't matter if the information Rachael shared was fake, what matters that if it were true it would count under Espionage laws and she leaked it.

It pains me to make a sentence suggestion to the Priests. As I've said, I considered Rach to be among the most loyal to Osiris. However if found guilty of both charges, I recommend revocation of citizenship including all honors and ban from the forums, discord and in-game region for a period of one year.

It can certainly be agreed that Osiris has had the trust it places in its leadership abused and betrayed. Not, as the Pharaoh would have it, by Rachael coming up with a supposedly nefarious 4-person plot, involving no guardians, and nobody with any military power to attempt a coup. Instead, Osiris has been betrayed by its own Pharaoh, she who we trusted most, in this bizarre attempt to discredit and/or purge perceived political threats.

Indeed, the Priests must consider the evidence. The Pharaoh has presented two conversations, without bothering to inform the court of the context in which they exist. In this trial, the prosecution has been unwilling to construct any kind of narrative of events. If we believe the Pharaoh, we are left with so many unanswered questions. What is Rach's supposed motive to coup? We all agree that there never was a plan to target our ally TWP, so why does Rach feel the need to topple the very executive government she leads on a day to day basis? Why did Rach go to TWP, an ally of Osiris, to support a coup, instead of a region which is actually hostile to the current government. Why did Rach pick out the two citizens of Osiris, neither of whom are in a position which would add to the chances of a coup succeeding? The Pharaoh would have you believe that all these illogical actions, bound to end in failure, come from the same extremely competent player who has been entrusted as her Chief Vizier. I, for one, find this implausible.

Instead of an odd out of the blue and nonsensical "coup" attempt, Rach has been framed. Through no fault of her own, and following the direction of her Pharaoh, a trusted leader and friend, Rach has been lured into a trap. I urge the Priests to go over our opening statement, and our witness interviews, so that they can fully understand the web we all find ourselves in. The Pharaoh claims these things belong in a movie, but we have seen intrigue aplenty in the history of NS. Why, only recently it was revealed that much of our Guardian Council under Syberis were NPO-affiliated, plotting to take control of our Sinker.

The Prosecution, despite its attempts to backtrack, has indeed been careless in its case. It has carelessly implied that was are at way with our closest ally. It has attempted to charge my client with inapplicable crimes, and has claimed that being ordered to give false information to select people is "leaking" and "espionage." Worst of all, it has claimed that a loyal citizen of Osiris is a traitor, for falling into a trap laid by the very same person who stands in front of us today and claims to be the victim.

Naturally, the Defence stands by our plea of not guilty, and thus recommend that the Priests find Rach innocent of all charges. In addition, we recommend that the Priests immediately begin trial proceedings against the Pharaoh.

I thank you all for the patience you have displayed while the Defence has endeavoured to set the record straight.

As a note, Halo has taken the decision to recuse himself from this case to avoid the potential conflict of interest that could potentially arise. Although I do not believe for one second this would have affected Halo's fairness I appauld him for his level-headedness and professionalism.

The Council of Priests finds the defendant Guilty. However we accept some of the defenses arguments about the the Pharaoh's actions.

Therefore before we deliver a sentence I invite and encourage the defense to mitigate and explain to us why the defense feels that we should not impose the Pharaoh's recommend sentence.
