Sygian for Chief Scribe!
Greetings denizens of Osiris,
I am very excited to announce that I have been nominated to be the next Chief Scribe of Osiris. This post will inform you of my positions in other regions, and it will also inform you about my goals as Chief Scribe and my brief history on NationStates.
Who the heck are you?
I began playing NationStates during the summer of 2015. I had played it about a year before but I only answered issues and quit after about a month. When I returned, I discovered Auralia. Auralia is where I began roleplaying and where I joined the Auralian Knights, lead by Nephmir. Neph taught me a lot about raiding and I quickly advanced up the ranks and became Regent of Auralia (second-in-command to Neph) at the beginning of this year. The Auralian Knights soon became inactive, so I decided to look further into NationStates. I remained in Auralia, my home, but I enlisted in The Black Hawks on December 19, 2015. I was sort of active there and finally on July 10, 2016 I was promoted to Corporal. That is when I decided that my goal there was to advance as far as I could up the ranks. I soon earned my current rank of Lieutenant on October 12 and was appointed as Head of Training in The Black Hawks on October 22.
I am also an active citizen in Balder, our Nordic sister region, where I am a member of the Storting and the Minister of Integration where I am currently finishing my term. I am also a citizen of The East Pacific, my favorite feeder! No need to worry, Osiris is still my all-time favorite GCR.
I have written one SC repeal that went up to vote this afternoon. (December 1, 2016).
Why are you running?
I believe that I am fit for this position in many ways. I have held multiple leadership positions in different regions in the past, and I have proven to be active on a day-to-day basis (hour-to-hour is almost true as well, I am usually reachable any time of day). I have served many leadership positions and proven that I can manage my time between the few regions I am in very well. Writing legislation is not something that I am great at, but I would like to change that by practice and I think this is the best way to do so since it is a win-win situation (I am serving Osiris and improving my legislation writing skills!). I have read the Scroll of Ma'at and all other legislation and policies of Osiris to better familiarize myself with its history and its current government. I do not think we need more laws, policies, and legislation. I believe that we should review our current legislation and improve it to fix any current errors and fallacies that we may encounter.
I believe Osiris is the most active sinker and it will remain to be the most active. The only thing we need activity wise is... more activity!
You'll be Chief Scribe, how in the world are you going to generate more activity?
Good question. I am going to boldly go where no man has gone before by holding legislative review sessions where we examine current legislation and decide if we should modify any of it to make it easier to understand and/or to avoid confliction with other legislation. The best thing about it is... anyone can volunteer! That's right, anyone! I will be sure to host it during a time that all volunteers can attend, so nobody is left out. I also look forward to working with the Executive branch to plan events that will generate more activity.
I am active every day and you will not need to wait for me to open up voting on legislation, and I will be sure to appoint a deputy (or two) that Osiris can count on if I disappear from the face of the earth one day. I do not know who I will appoint as my deputy yet, but I do have a select group in mind that I will choose from. I would like to find someone that is not currently holding a government position in Osiris but would like to learn more about Osiris and get more familiar with the structure. I think this is the best way to do so. I am very open minded and I promise to listen to all of your suggestions! I look forward to serving a great term as Chief Scribe.
Feel free to ask me anything!
Cheers,
Sygian Sethos
