Ahoy hoy!

I'm Treize Dreizehn and I do not want to be Pharaoh. Ever again. I thought I'd get that out of the way, because I don't want it overshadowing my time here.

With that out of the way, I'd like to declare my candidacy for the Keeper of the Deshret, and the formation of the Surprise Party.

A little bit about me first: I've been legislating in Osiris for most of the last year(yes even including my recent "sabbatical"), and I think the best time I ever had was as Kai Repat in Old Osiris. Primarily because I could help write law, and ensure that stuff moved along.

Ask anyone, my time as Kai was one of the most active periods for legislation in Old Osiris. And most of those people will also agree a lot of that was due to my influence. I get people motivated, and make sure new law is created on a regular basis when it is needed.

And lord knows what we need most of all right now is someone who is active, ready, and willing to get the legalese out of the way. Right out of the gate, we need to pass our Constitution, a Criminal Code, and probably standardize some of our election laws(the parts we're leaving up to the various election administrators for instance).

Part of the problem in Old Osiris was the inability to change forum policy because of the old administrators. We grew used to "You can pass whatever laws you want on citizenship, we won't enforce it if we don't want to". With most of those guys out on their ass, the sky is the limit with regards to what we'd like to do. This is a fresh start and a new Osiris, and we all need to take part to make this shit happen.

So that's what I'm going to bring to the table, the ability to get people off their asses and get them legislating. And maybe, just maybe, put some of my considerable law writing expertise to work here, making things better.

A vote for Treize is a vote in the right direction. Just don't ever make me Pharaoh. Seriously.

Aside from the priorities you've mentioned -- Constitution, criminal code, election laws -- what do you see as the priorities the Deshret most needs to focus on as it moves forward? These can be either broad or specific, there's not a "right answer" that I'm looking for, just genuinely curious.

Also, Section 3.6(d) of the Procedure gives the Keeper the power to establish additional rules for order and other processes for the operation of the Deshret as long as they don't conflict with the Procedure. Would you implement any additional such rules or processes, and if so what? Moreover, generally speaking would you be inclined to implement additional rules unilaterally or would you consult the Deshret beforehand?

Just a simple question that I think should be asked, no ill intent behind it- given the events of your tenure as Pharaoh and your eventual handover of the Delegacy to Gatesville, JAL and company, why should we trust you to have power beyond membership in the Deshret?

Lets start with the first question, as it's arguably the one with the biggest answer. This region is devoid of laws right now. The Constitution, Criminal Code, and Election laws will form the foundation of how this government evolves. In a two month term, I think those are more than enough to keep the Deshret and its Keeper busy.

However, if I were to speculate on what to do after that, I could imagine us defining citizenship standards, establish concrete responsibilities for the various Priesthoods(likely in the realm of regular compiled reports, like our FA office has always had), and whichever other problems crop up between now and the end of the term(and we all know they will).

As for the rules and order, I think yes, I would unilaterally establish certain rules, but a lot of it would be codifying common sense(and a lot of stuff we're already doing). It's mostly clerical work to get the rules of order down in a thread as the first Keeper, and then modifying them going forward through votes in the Deshret. Some specifics:

* Each vote should have a discussion thread and a vote thread.
* Campaigning for office or support on a piece of legislation can be done anywhere.
* Nomination threads must be separate from vote threads
* The Keeper is responsible for running votes and indexing/archiving completed votes.

No, that's a good question, and one I'm readily able to answer. If Osiris wants to be safe from my machinations, they have one simple recourse, never elect me Pharaoh or allow me to be chosen as Vizier. I won't run for the office in the near or distant future, and if somehow nominated I will decline to accept.

The Keeper of the Deshret is an ideal location for someone like me. I thrive in legislative bodies, and have done great work in the WA and in Old Osiris' Sepatarchy that proves my mettle in this regard.

So, with that out of the way, I say you trust me because the Keeper is a job that needs someone willing to put the work in. I am that guy.

In all fairness the keeper is basically the janitor of the Deshret. =P It moves old threads out of the way and moves things to vote. There is relatively no power but a lot of responsibility. Without a keeper the Deshret grows stagnant. I think Treize would work perfectly in this regard.

I spoke in terms of power because it's been brought up in the State Code discussion that the Keeper may be considered a member of the Hedjet.

I watched as you put Osiris through hell. You boasted about not caring about people and only working your way through politics to have a joy ride in the delegacy. Now you tell us not to elect you delegate again--thereby admitting your own inability to control your actions. Why should we elect you Keeper if you proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are not trustworthy?

You're jumping the gun, Zeo. It's a fair question and has been firmly on my mind since he popped his head back into this region, of all the 17,477 regions he could join.
