The Chief Scribe(Powers and Duties) Act now at vote. Voting will conclude at 4.15AM EST on Friday the 26th of October 2018.
This is an amendment to the Scroll of Horus and as such it will require a two-thirds vote to pass the Council of Scribes.
Citizens may vote Aye(or similar notions to the affirmative), Nay(or similar notions to the contrary) or Abstain(or similar notions to indicate neutrality).
A reminder that Guardians are not eligible to vote in the Council of Scribes on constitutional amendments, as Guardians vote on such amendments separately in the Council of Guardians.

Article I: Amendments to the Scroll of Horus:
(1)Article VI section (3) of the Scroll of Horus shall be amended as follows(2)The following will be amended into the Scroll of Horus as Article VI: The Chief Scribe sub sections (5) to (7)Amendment Text wrote: (3)The Chief Scribe may make alterations to legislation prior to bringing it to vote for compliance with basic spelling and grammatical standards of American English, and any legislative formatting standards that may be established by law.The Chief Scribe must detail what changes were made and why in the post that opens the vote for said legislation.Amendment Text wrote: (5)Upon the Chief Scribes departure from the office they shall automatically be succeeded by their Deputy unless otherwise decided by the Pharaoh. This Deputy shall automatically receive all the powers and titles associated with the office of Chief Scribe upon their ascension from this post unless otherwise decided by the Pharaoh.
(6) The Chief Scribe may issue a formal censure to a member of the Council of Scribes by barring them from the Council for a period up to but not exceeding 1 weeks sitting. A member of the Council of Scribes may only receive a censure for violating the order, good conduct or civility of the chamber. A Censure lasting for a period greater than 1 week must be approved by the pharaoh.
(7) If the Chief Scribe has introduced a piece of legislation for debate by the Council of Scribes the procedure with regards to legislation, whether it be a amendment to existing legislation, an entirely new piece of legislation, nonbinding resolution or otherwise shall be performed by a designated deputy, if no such deputy exists the pharaoh shall appoint an individual to preside over the procedure regarding said piece of legislation.
