Posted: Tue Jun 20, 2017 9:34 pm
Pursuant to Article II, Section 1(4) and 1(5) of the Scroll of Ma'at, the Council of Scribes is responsible for electing a Chief Scribe to preside over the Council of Scribes according to its procedural rules, and to exercise discretion in determining procedure where no rules exist. Any citizen* is eligible to run for Chief Scribe. In order to run for Chief Scribe, a citizen must:
1. Accept nomination or declare their own candidacy in this thread;
2. Post a conflict of interest disclosure that includes all regions and organizations with which the candidate is currently involved as a citizen or equivalent member, as well as all offices and/or military ranks held in these regions and organizations, if applicable. Conflict of interest disclosures may be included in a candidate's campaign thread, but must be posted even if the candidate does not post a campaign thread.
To withdraw from candidacy, a candidate must withdraw candidacy in this thread or, if withdrawing after nominations have closed, in a separate thread posted in the Election Precinct subforum. This can include the candidate's campaign thread, if applicable.
Nominations will close at 9:30 p.m. EDT on June 27, 2016, after which voting will begin.
Candidates may begin campaigning in this subforum at their convenience and may campaign throughout the election period.
* According to Article V, Section 1(1) of the Scroll of Ma'at, senior government officers that are ineligible to simultaneously serve as Chief Scribe are: the Pharaoh, the Heir Apparent, and the Chief Vizier. Senior government officers may technically run for Chief Scribe provided they resign from the other senior government office they hold prior to being elected Chief Scribe.
