The Great Yuno Adytus War

[OOC: This is war. I wrote the beginning of this role-play so people can add on to it, and tell everyone what their nations will do in response to this international incident. You can pick sides, be neutral, or start your own war in response. It is a pretty open battlefield. You can type up a story on international aid, treaties, or even a solider in the war. This is a pretty dynamic role-play, but try to keep it related to the war as a whole. We can develop it in any direction. I have no intention of taking any land on the map. If you want to take land from someone, reach some form of agreement with that person out-of-character first. Do not behave like a god, be reasonable, do reasonable things. Humor is welcome, or you can be very serious. It does not matter. I welcome everything. Pictures are cool too! The more pictures the better! Thank you! Also, if you need to know more about the Anarchic Republic of Adytus for your RP, check out the Factbook!]
It was a nice day in southern Osiris. There was a relaxing, cool wind coming from the north, bringing winter with it; however, Mike Lynn, the leader of the Anarchic Republic’s federal assembly, could do little to enjoy anything. Only a few days had passed since he made the call to reduce the small, island nation of Brasilistan to a wasteland. “Zone 1 – Nuclear” is what they called it now. The large, bloody war that was fought to annex the island in the first place – pointless. In the face of the mounting death toll during the fighting, the Republic’s best approach, or to be more accurate, the military’s best approach, to solving this issue, and winning the war they had started, was simply to destroy everything anywhere near Brasilistan. Adytus’ lost colony, Zone 1 – Nuclear, will forever be remembered was the most pointless war in history; however, the public did not feel this way. As far as they saw it, Adytus won the war. Brasilistan was gone, the Anarchic Republic was still here, alive and well, and regardless of how many people may have died, people were in the streets celebrating like it was Unification Day all over again this year.
But everything wasn’t so bright for the Anarchic Republic. Neighboring nations were watching the conflict between Adytus and Brasilistan closely, and with the war turning Brasilistan into the stage for Fallout 5, nearby nations had their militaries on high alert, fearing further destruction and anarchy. Mike Lynn had already received several distressing notification from the navy regarding warship sightings off the coast of Adytus. Military leaders were on edge, worried or wanting another war to break out, and Mike Lynn worried that he would be powerless to stop it. The military already enjoyed a reasonable amount of independence due to the lack of a powerful, centralized government in Adytus, and Mike Lynn had already overheard Charis Markos, head of the Adytus military, talk about his political ambitions having been made a hero during the war. He was worried that Markos would spur on another conflict in an effort to further increase his political clout, and threaten the government. He had no idea how real these fears would become in the coming weeks. Due to Zone 1 - Nuclear, Mike Lynn started getting more and more alerts about the scale of military operations being conducted by neighboring nations. While they were suppose to look defense in nature, the states of Yuno and Wrektopia were showing complete disregard for water navigation treaties, moving closer and closer to the coast of Adytus, and increasing the paranoia of military leaders.
Charis Markos was having none of it. Becoming a national hero had gone to head you could say. Officers would often spot him talking to himself, or referring to himself in the third person, saying things like “My name will never fade away,” or “Charis Markos, hero of the people, saver of this nation.” There were rumors going around that he would refer to himself as a god when talking to his men; however, he was not always like this. Growing up in southern Adytus, his family was well off and the typical, traditional military family. He was well schooled, and by every sense of the word, a gentleman. But something changed in him after Zone 1 – Nuclear. The horrors weighed on his mind heavily, and he wore those experiences on his face, which was old and bent with stress. Mike Lynn did not trust the man, especially after what happened on November 18th. There had been a sighting of a large warship off the coast of Adytus, flying the flag of Yuno. It was well within the Republic’s waters, and legally speaking, had broken in international law. Charis Markos marched into Mike Lynn’s office yelled at the top of his lungs. “How could you even let this happen,” he shouted three inches away from Lynn’s face. “Our nation is better than this! Our nation will not be stepped on like this! Our nation, our nation will not allow this to happen! If you won’t be a man, than get out of my way!” Mike Lynn, not at all surprised by this conduct, punched Markos right in the face, breaking his noise, which was now covered in blood. “Get out of my office,” he said plainly.
Three days later, there was another sighting of ships off the coast. It was several now, all flying the Yuno flag. But Markos decided he was not going to subject himself to Lynn’s fist again. He worked the navy to develop, and commanded that the air force “bomb the hell out of those ships!” With out any order, Markos threw the nation into war. The Yuno warships open fired on the planes as soon as they determined the intent of the incoming planes to be hostile. While the navy was able to sink all the Yuno ships, the event sparked a fire in the federal assembly. People were demanding that further action be taken to redeem the lives of the men that were lost. This was done in the hopes of capturing the war-hungry fever that had overcome the nation since the “victory” over Brasilistan. The war hawks had won the day, and the federal assembly declared an official state of war against Yuno. Markos, happier than most had seen him in awhile, proudly spoke to the assembly, proclaiming that victory would come soon, and that the Yuno nation would be destroyed whatever the cost. “No enemy shall stand against us,” he spoke confidently as the members of the assembly cheered his name. Mike Lynn was nowhere to be found, and Markos was sitting in Lynn’s center chair in the assembly building. A coup without a coup in a government without law and order to begin with had occurred in Adytus. The next day, the shoreline of Yuno was greeted with bombs, and bloody fighting. The war had begun, and it was still in question which side other nations would take in this conflict. Only time will tell…
