Adytus for Chief Vizier!
Hi. Some of you may already know me from other regions, or my gallivanting here in Osiris, but for those of you that don’t - I am Adytus, formally the Anarchic Republic of Adytus – but do not worry, I am not a real anarchist! In fact, I am entirely the opposite, but I do enjoy role-playing with my nation, writing stories for it, and exploring that aspect of the game. It is where I got my start in this universe back in April of this year. I spent the majority of my time collecting endorsements, and writing for my nation, and back then that was all I really knew how to do; however, I like to think I have come a long way since then, and certainly with a ton of help, particularly from people like Cormac, and Yuno, as well as numerous others. I would probably still be collecting endorsements, and writing for my nation if it was not for them. Yuno, being the Minister Steward in Lazarus, actually recruited me to the forums for the first time, where I started to learn how this world works, and where I was going to stand within it. After getting my feet on the ground in Lazarus, and realizing that democracy in this game is far from perfect, I happened upon something Cormac wrote on the NationStates forum that I thought described my circumstance perfectly, and felt compelled to messaged him about, telling him just how right I thought he was. He was polite, and certainly someone I thought was doing a great job at this game, even if others were vocal about their disagreements, and with my contact with him. “I do not want to play my game with your old grudges,” is a common response I would give when people came poking me about what is right or wrong. This happened on a number of occasions, whether it was Cormac or Evil Wolf.
From there, I developed an interest in the World Assembly. So far, I have repealed a liberation resolution, and I am very proud of this; moreover, I have submitted a number of proposals already, and worked along side people to draft their own. I made an attempt to repeal and replace SC # 1 as well, but this attempt was met with misfortune. I am also working on a number of GA proposals. There was one attempt already to submit a proposal to the GA, but – to be frank, I had no idea what I was doing, and perhaps I still may get lost in the piles of GA paperwork. However, I am not deterred! When I was working on my first proposal, Cormac was kind enough to assist me, voting in favor of the proposal when it came to vote, even though my proposal and his conflicted at some point due to timing. He was willing to work with me to help achieve our goals, and I admire that quality in people. I was not greeted with silent contempt that seems to be all too common on this game, but a polite message appealing to me to do the right thing. It was this enterprise that sealed my respect for Cormac, and my interest in Osiris. Shortly after, I applied for citizenship, and here I am! Happy to be here more and more every day since I joined.
Before I go any further, I would like to post my conflict of interest disclosure, and leave some notes. Transparence is important to me, and I made this apparent to the Rejected Realms when I ran for officer there. I will always let people know what is going on, and, more importantly, what I have going. I am only involved in four regions; however, I due maintain citizenship in the Pacific Order due to my ambassador responsibilities. They do not let you see much otherwise, which makes it five regions. The other regions and my positions in them are as followed:
- Lazarus – this was the region where I started, politically, thanks to my friend Yuno. I am currently in the cabinet heading World Assembly affairs for the region, and an active member of the legislator, where I fight for equal rights for raider players to build a more inclusive environment. It is a democracy, where people of all backgrounds should be welcomed.
- The Rejected Realms – I was elected an Officer of Culture there not to long ago. The region is a bit dead, so the office does not require much. I have encouraged the region to move to discord, and have started several polls. There is also an interesting discussion going on about creating an Officer of Terror to encourage people to the forum.
- Balder – I believe this was the second region I joined; however, I have not accomplished much there. I am only a citizen, and have taken part in the civic offices, where I was tasked with greeting new citizens.
- Osiris – I have had a lot of fun here, and this is my favorite place hands down. When I became a citizen because of my respect Cormac, I wanted to get involved. Lucky, I was asked by Biyah to serve as Sub-Vizier of World Assembly affairs. I have written a couple of announcements for the General Assembly, and the Security Council since then to let the international community know how the Pharaoh and we vote, as well as the routine proposal posting. During the state of emergency, I was promoted to a full Vizier “Without Portfolio,” which I thought was pretty funny, but I still handle world assembly affairs. Since taken office, I have taken part in government discussions, and have tried my best to give helpful advise where I can, contributing to what I can.
There are a couple of core ideas I would like to press within the government that I think could have a serious impact on the strength of Osiris, our activity, and how we look at ourselves as a community. The best way to describe my plans is bigger and better everything, but here are the main objectives if elected.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I greatly appreciate it, and look forward to answering your questions. Together we can make Osiris better one day at a time, one word at a time, so that everyone can have as much fun as I have been having here in our region. Again, thank you!
- Foreign Affairs – This department needs some love, and I am single. I would like to aggressively look for partners all across NationStates, building strong bonds and reaffirming current treaties so that we may more effectively tackle issues and threats that may arise. I know most of the treaties have been updated, which is excellent. Furthermore, with organizations like the Grey Wardens openly threatening our community, as well as other raider communities, I want to do what I can to turn Osiris into the center of raider foreign affairs, and regional sovereignty. I would go as far to consider joining the Sovereignty Accords – an alliance between the Pacific, our regional ally, Balder, and the West Pacific; however, any decision like this I would like the cabinet and the pharaoh to discuss this together, and with consent from the Pharaoh, of course. We will not join an alliance that does not benefit Osiris both in the short and long term. Moreover, the more partners we have, the more influence we have on the international stage. Everything from regional treaties, to individual player connections that can benefit our region will be on the table, and open to discussion. I would also like to improve relations with regions across the board; however, in the case of regions like Lazarus, where members of the community harbor open hatred for our region, they will be avoided. The cabinet will work to isolate our enemies politically through whatever tools at our deposal. I am in it to win it with regards to foreign affairs. I want to make sure Osiris is at the top of its game. Foreign updates are not a huge priority of mine; however, we will try to get a couple released when we have plenty to write about. We will likely write updates as a group within the cabinet, each member writing a short article about what they oversee, and the foreign affairs Vizier will fill in the gaps and make it look pretty.
- Community Affairs – I think Gradea is doing an amazing job, and will likely ask him again to serve as Vizier of community affairs again; however, if he is elected Chief of Scribes, and would like to maintain that position that is entirely fine. I will try to find the best person for the job. Moreover, I would like to create all new forms of jobs for members to take part in. This would include small jobs such as posting on the RMB, creating a RMB team from newer citizens to encourage them to talk more with members of the community, and the drive the RMB 24/7. I would like to make more use of the regional telegram system, sending announcements and “call-to-arms” messages to recruit for the military, the forum, and world assembly membership. I think they are an excellent way to direct people who are not sure how to get involved for all departments. The cabinet will also address the best, and most streamlined system for citizenship applications, finding work for newer members. When I was new to this game, all the applications were a bit much to handle. They still are. It is a lot easier to get lost looking for application after application on a forum you are not at all familiar with. We must do our best to guide new people to the forums, through the forums, and through the start of their game to overcome the massive learning curve that drains people’s interests. In addition, with foreign affairs high on the list, I expect there will be more festivals to come. My opinion on the best place to really have festivals would be on discord; however, I would like to explore, together with the Vizier of Community Affairs, new and creative ways to keep people on their toes and interested.
- The Legion – This is simple. Bigger the better. With any hope, the foreign affairs department will help recruit new members to the Legion that are not necessarily new to raiding; moreover, I believe together with regional telegrams recruiting people to the World Assembly, sending telegrams asking people to sign up to the Legion often and, perhaps weekly, would not be a bad idea. The more members, the better. I expect the head of the army, and the Vizier of Community affairs to work closely in drafting these telegrams. With more members, and an active legion like we have now, I want to see Osiris listed or leading raids across the board. Big regions, small regions, anything that anyone believes is ambitions, I want Osiris at the forefront. Raiders are under attack, and as one of the world’s largest raiding regions, we need to look out and protect raiders in communities, extend a helping hand to operations and give respect to those that share in our identity.
Best Regards.
