Fellow Osirans,

The purpose of this constitutional convention is to write the opening pages of the next chapter of the story that is Osiris. Our region realizes the maxim that "nothing is permanent", as we have seen through out our history. With that in mind, I believe that as a community, we need to make use of these discussions to find a more sustaining and enriching path for our region, taking ideas and ways we know work for our community, and unburdening ourselves of traditions which hinder us.

Whether you are new or old to Osiris, you have a voice here in these halls. Under my direction, all voices are equal here, and I will work to ensure that everyone is heard. By the end of the convention, it is my desire that we produce a document which makes you all proud.

As noted in the Temporary Rules, I am proposing we work on three major documents: the constitution, the legal code, and an electoral code. In the spirit of us coming together, we will be voting on one constitution, one legal code, and one electoral code. You may propose your own drafts for each category, but we need to come together at the end of discussions and craft one for us to vote on.

There may be other pieces of legislation that you wish to propose that fall outside of what I mentioned above. If it is necessary to have immediately, then we can consider it. Yet, because this is a constitutional convention and not a proper legislature, I believe we have to focus on the fundamental documents first, and allow legislatures down the road the opportunity to debate and decide other issues.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know.

Thank you, and I look forward to working with you on making a new Osiris.

Well said!

My draft for the electoral code should be up in the next few days: it will be focussed mainly on preventing corruption, and ensuring that foreign elements do not subvert our election process.

I'm not much of a drafter myself, but I look forward to helping revise documents in having one come together to be the best we can get.

As a notice for all of you who wish to get your opinions in but haven't yet: Do it now.

In just over 24 hours from now, we will come to the end of the mandatory seven day discussion period for each category of discussion. Each topic will need to be motioned and seconded by at least two people before the Chief Scribe (aka me) can bring it before a vote. Have you read each topic so far, and feel it's ok? Please say so. Don't like it? Please, let the sponsor know why, and what could be fixed. Not sure? Either talk to myself, or ask questions of your fellow Scribes in each topic.

As a note, I will be drafting and presenting an Electoral Code proposal for tomorrow, the 4th of May. I will not accept a motion for vote until at least three days have been elapsed, so that folks can view and comment.
