I wasn't going to be the one to bring up cancer, but it looks like you just three it right out there so here it goes.
You have stated on the NS forums and in offsite Skype chats that your cancer has returned. How can we be sure that you can perform your duties as Pharaoh while undergoing treatment? I have known people who have taken cemo and, as you know, it is hell. Are you sure you can do this job while going through that?

Fortunately, a team of doctors determined that the prior results of the scan that told me I had cancer again were a false positive. An MRI has been scheduled to remove any and all doubt. I thought that I, or Koth, had spread the good news already.
So, to answer your question... Thankfully, we don't have to find out how I would handle the Pharaohship and cancer at the same time.

Yikes Fest. You can't just bring up something like this in an election campaign dude. This is a shitty text based browser game, Syl's real life physical health - running for Pharaoh or not - has nothing to do with it. Jesus H Christ on a pogo stick.

When the first 25% of your opening campaign post has to do with cancer, the cat has left the bag. Osirans have a right to know if their Pharaoh will be tied up with cancer treatments just like they have a right to know if their Pharaoh will be tied up with college (Tim) or something like that. We need an active Pharaoh.Lord Ravenclaw wrote:Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:56 pmYikes Fest. You can't just bring up something like this in an election campaign dude. This, x100, regardless of Festavo's excuses. That question was literally reprehensible. I honestly don't think Festavo knows how not to be offensive.Lord Ravenclaw wrote:Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:56 pmYikes Fest. You can't just bring up something like this in an election campaign dude. Hey Syl! This looks like a pretty solid platform, and I'm glad to see you running. Best of luck! I do have some questions, which are similar to the questions I've already posed to other candidates:
1. Do you plan to make more use of Regional Officers and, if so, how?
2. In regard to the Predator crisis, how will you handle that from a foreign affairs perspective? Are you open to the possibility of terminating relations with DEN or The Black Hawks if that seems appropriate, or are you already predisposed against that course of action?
3. You were a Predator user, before Halcones was declared delete-on-sight. Now, I personally believe there is a huge difference between using Predator when Halcones was still a NationStates player and there was zero reason to believe it was against the rules, versus using it after he was declared delete-on-sight. Nonetheless, your use of Predator may well come up if you're elected Pharaoh, and could become a foreign affairs problem for Osiris. How will you handle that, if the issue arises?
4. Will you commit to not nominating a post-Halcones DoS Predator user to serve as your Vizier or Scribe of War?
5. Will you be going back to the original blue version of the regional flag, the purple version, or some other color?
Thanks!

To Fest's credit, he does have a point. While he could have been more tactful about asking if Syl's rl obligations would end up interfering with his ability to commit to the Pharaohship, it is kind of important. I had to promise Osiris when I was Pharaoh that I would not burn out like I always do, and I think that same concept applies here but obviously for a totally different reason. I don't think he was implying that cancer would have made him any worse of a Pharaoh, just an understandably less active one.
Luckily, Syl is gloriously cancer-free and here to stay, so the point is moot.

1. Do you plan to make more use of Regional Officers and, if so, how?
I see Tim's current setup, and I would make a couple of changes in our RO setup. Firstly, our WFE privileges needn't be restricted only to the Pharaoh. For example, the Scribe of Media should have an RO spot and be allowed to make changes to the "Regional News: " section of the WFE, to help spread the Oracle. Any abuse of this privilege will result in privilege removal, naturally. On the other hand, I don't see the need for our War Scribe to hold an RO position, and would remove them as an RO.
2. In regard to the Predator crisis, how will you handle that from a foreign affairs perspective? Are you open to the possibility of terminating relations with DEN or The Black Hawks if that seems appropriate, or are you already predisposed against that course of action?
I will handle it as it should be handled by the only GCR with the Invader tag. DEN and The Black Hawks have made raiders look bad, some intentionally, many accidentally. Regardless of intent, the damage remains. I am entirely open to termination of relations with DEN, but I will seek the opinion of the people of Osiris before I make any final decision there. As for The Black Hawks, I have seen more remorse out of them as an organization, but that only means that I am open to termination of relations with TBH with the stipulation of, as you said, it "seeming appropriate". If it seems appropriate, I would also seek the opinion of the people of Osiris before I make any final decision.
You are actually incorrect here. I was never a Predator user. I had errors with the program, and used that as an excuse to use the Excel sheets (which I was more comfortable with). Turned out to be the best choice ever. In addition, when I resigned from DEN as a Colonel and switched to being a defender for 6 months, I was the one who leaked the program in #jump. Tim can attest to that, as he was one of the defenders I leaked it to. Ever since it was declared illegal, I have been submitting evidence to the moderation team to help them sort all this out, as I still have access to the tool even to this day. So, in short, I don't think we need to worry. If the issue does arise, though, I can shut it down very easily.
4. Will you commit to not nominating a post-Halcones DoS Predator user to serve as your Vizier or Scribe of War?
I will commit to finding players that fit those positions who kept their heads clean throughout the past 4 years, but if the search proves nigh impossible, I won't let the region stagnate without a Vizier or Scribe of War just for the sake of sticking to my guns.
5. Will you be going back to the original blue version of the regional flag, the purple version, or some other color?
I'll hold a vote between the original blue and the purple version. Personally I'm rooting for original blue.

It's alright. At least you thought you saw it somewhere. Being such a renowned raider with the regions that Predator was used in, I'm surprised people don't jump to the conclusion that I must have used it.Cormac wrote:Wed Mar 30, 2016 10:59 pmUgh, really sorry for the misinformation.
