Imperial Government Formed

Prime Minister meeting with Ministers in the Oak Room Following the recent general election, Linkin Talleyrand was appointed Prime Minister with his running mate Nick Powell taking up office as Deputy Prime Minister. Now entering his third (non-conscutive) term as premier, Linkin Talleyrand convened the Imperial Council when delivering the State of the Realm address from his residence. Many of the senior ministers include those who served as head of their ministry in the last administration. The Marquis of Mornington, Akillian Talleyrand, was as well brought on as a senior government officer of no particular ministry, for his tested skills in government affairs and experience in leadership.
Constitutional Reforms

Greycourt, the avenue of government ministries and other agencies In consultation with the citizenry, Hedingham Palace released a proposal to reform Constitution X, focusing on changes to the political system of the Realm. The proposal outlines a revamp to the structure of the Estates General, where the Imperial Senate and Electoral College would make up the houses of parliament. By popular vote, Senators would be elected with increased voting power based on their results. Selection of the Prime Minister would be the responsibility of the members of the Imperial Senate. Senators would as well take on the title of Judges of the High Court, and from them select the Lord Chancellor.
The Imperial Council is expected to see some changes as well, intended to devolve responsibility for policy implementation to the level of cabinet ministers acting under the authority of the Crown. Heads of departments would exercise autonomous control over their portfolio, increasing their ability and power within the authority of their department. The Prime Minister's role would be to set government performance targets and monitor affairs of the Imperial Government.
Since its debut, many citizens have taken part in the discussion of the reforms, where most seem to welcome the changes. The reforms are expected to be introduced to the Estates General for approval within the coming weeks.
Imperial Army Mobilized

Soliders marching in a victory procession The last few weeks have been a busy period for the Imperial Army, with several deployments undertaken in support of our allies and military partners. Amongst other operations, the LKE was pleased to provide support to the Osiris occupation of Philippines, Europeia's occupations of Middle Earth and Asia and The Black Hawks occupation of Latinoamerica. We value and appreciate the assistance of these regions with our own operations, so we are glad to have the opportunity to reciprocate.
Since our last foreign update, the LKE has conducted an invasion and four-day occupation of the historic defender region Belgium. Under the LKE's leadership, the update invasion party consisted of an impressive 27 units and the occupation peaked at 89 units. The FRA and the UDL were rendered unable to mount any attempt at retaking Belgium from the LKE. We are grateful for the support we received in this operation from Balder, Europeia, Osiris, Albion, DEN, The Black Hawks, Auralia, The Communist Bloc, Lone Wolves United and Democratic Republic of Bavaria.
Media: Government vs. Gavel

Senators engaging in discussion while in session A bill regulating the media was introduced by the Prime Minister to the Senators of the Estates Commons. It had been foreseen following the nationalization of The LKE Today last term. Debate quickly arose between the Senators, with the issue of the government having the ability to terminate or otherwise suspend media rights for violations to the bill being at the forefront. The bill's author stood in favour of the government's authority, arguing appeals may be brought to the Imperial Courts of Justice. However, it was suggested this could lead to government censorship. Speaker Ivo Romanov called the chamber to order, holding a vote for the amendment. The infringement amendment was approved on 28 February. The bill is currently in a final reading on the floor.
Other News Of The Realm... - Upon exiting his third term as premier, Nick Powell was elevated to Viscount of Crescent. This coinciding with his Lordship's one year mark as World Assembly Delegate of the LKE, setting a record as the longest serving World Assembly Delegate.
- Electors have been flooding the streets of Imperial Square where the US Primaries have become a hot topic. The Republican Primary in particular have gotten a lot of spotlight, with electors predicting and discussing the outcomes of the latest debates, drop-outs and poll numbers.
- The LKE has joined Europeia in repealing the Whitehall Accord, which was a pan-regional education pact with The Kingdom of Great Britain.
- General Sebastian of the Imperial Command commissioned the Belgium Campaign Ribbon and authorized its display to those soldiers who took part in the successful operation.
- Barron of the Opulent has been appointed to a second term as the Mayor of Imperial City.
Brought to you by the Ministry of the Exterior
On behalf of His Supreme Majesty's Government, Peers, Electors and the Imperial Family of the LKE, wishing you all the best!
