Happy March! With the new month, I want to start an initiative to get the deshret always talking about potential amendments or new laws. This will involve us picking a specific area of the state code or previous acts to examine closely. From there, we would have a facilitated discussion about that area.

Why do this?

-This is a way for us to always have something to talk about. With constant potential for activity, my hope is that we all try to stay to engage in these conversations and within Osiris.

-By having specific focuses, it will act as an incubator where multiple perspectives can be brought around a topic. The focus will give people a foundation to go off of. Something really special about the deshret is that any councillor can propose something. I believe that this will encourage more diversity in proposals. Maybe we all work together to write something? Maybe a few co-author something and get back to the group. The more collaboration we have as a group, the better.

Next Steps:
Let's make a list of areas we want to talk about! I'll provide links of where current stuff is and you all can list out anything that would be important to discuss further. We can start general and then work our way to more specific things. For example, someone might suggest "Deshret" as a general topic and then we can focus that to "Deshret Membership Requirements."

My expectation is for everyone to participate in some way. We all have opinions, so let's share them :D

-Pschent Sentencing
-Executive reform (division of powers, elected Hedjet, etc.)
- Legislative reform (all-citizen legislature, elected unicameral legislature, bicameralism, etc.)

I decried naysayers before about holding back Osiris, so it kind of pains me to say this, but it seems like we're just going back to look at things because we have nothing better to do.

However, in order to not be a naysayer, I will contribute when I have more time.

As a legislative body, it is our responsibility to make sure our laws are up to date and the best that they can be to serve Osiris. This is the same as one person looking through the code and proposing an amendment. The mentality is simply on the collective. Let's all do this and find something specifically to focus on each time.

As Keeper, it is my job to oversee the Deshret, which is why I am focusing on legislation. I actually discussed this idea in my original campaign for Keeper under Activity: https://osiris.valthost.com/viewtopic.p ... t=11525515. This is not directly a result of our current activity discussion, but it is a step forward to provide opportunity for councillors to engage and better understand the laws of Osiris.

It seems to me that the Vizier could be given more responsibilities perhaps take some of the burden off the pharaoh.
11. The Vizier will serve as Vice Pharaoh of Osiris, holding the second most WA endorsements in the region. The Pharaoh will appoint, with the approval of the Deshret, a citizen to serve as Vizier.

(a) The Vizier will serve as acting Pharaoh in the event of the Pharaoh's scheduled absence or an unscheduled absence exceeding seven days. The Vizier will be vested with all powers of the Pharaoh for the duration of the Pharaoh's absence, but will not assume the in-game WA Delegacy except in the event of an emergency as certified by the Atef of Osiris.

(b) The Vizier will assume the office of Pharaoh in the event of the Pharaoh's resignation or removal from office.

Like how in other GCR's the Vice Delegate tends to be responsible for regional security and chairing the regional security apparatus? Perhaps that may be something we need to consider and would most likely be a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the kind words! Now it is up to each of us to make this work. If everyone can come up with something to discuss, we will have enough topics to leave us all experts of Osiris' laws :D

I think it would be good for us to talk further about election voting. Are we ok if a councillor only votes when an election occurs or should there be a requirement to participate in other votes as well? Something I think worth discussing.
