Call me crazy, but nonetheless I stand before you today to declare my candidacy for the office of Pharaoh of the Osiris Fraternal Order!

Why should you vote for me? Experience, and Integrity.

Today marks a crossroads, you can look to the future, or you can look back and remain mired in the past. The choice is yours!
I ask you to consider all that we can do together, and stand with me for Osiris!

In my time in Osiris I have worn many hats.

I'm your friendly neighborhood guardian of the Atef, Former Vizier, Two time Keeper of the Deshret and I've served as your scribe of Ma'at for over a year now. On top of all that I'm also a member of the admin team here in the OFO and have authored several WA resolutions and several really good bits of legislation for our Deshret one of which is currently working it's way through the chamber as we speak.

After my last campaign I got to thinking about what I stand for as a candidate and I came to the conclusion that despite it's hilarity the charge leveled at me would make a great campaign slogan.

I am a pretty staunch Natsov, and am one of the original signatories of The Modern Natsov. This document will give you a great deal of insight into my stance in the WA in general.

As the scribe of Ma'at it has been my pleasure to bring your voice to the international community at large and as your Pharaoh I would be better able to do so.

On foreign policy I'm a centrist, and will generally pursue a policy of both neutrality and openness. What this will mean in practical terms is that I will with very few exceptions extend the hand of friendship to any reasonable entities who wish to be partners with us. I will pursue a series of non aggression pacts similar to that which I negotiated for us with Lazarus. My goal as a whole is to enhance our security and stability for the long haul. I will also begin an outreach program whose goal will be to make us new friends and hopefully new allies.

On the military I am also a centrist, I do not subscribe to the ideological extremes of either raiding or defending but instead will look to what lies in the best interests of Osiris. I also have no interest in acquiring colonies or building an empire for us to oversee so I suppose the best label for me there would be independent. I will strive to grow the legion and maintain it as a dynamic force in the game. I see the legion as a vital tool in maintaining not only our security, but the security of our allies.

On the media and culture. It is my view that these two should go hand in hand. Our media should strive to bring our culture to the world. The oracle is an excellent platform to accomplish this goal. The more people we can get interested in the happenings here the more we grow and the better off we are. This is one reason I have been pushing for a faster news cycle. Nobody wants yesterday's news, they want to know what's going on now, today. We have a great theme and alot of great material to draw on for culture. We have had some great role playing going on and I will do my best to support that in order to see it continue.

On justice we have been blessed in that we haven't had a great deal of need for their services. I would like to engage the Pschent and institute some mock trials in order to keep the ministry both well trained and active. I think that in this they could work closely with the culture department and incorporate the "trials" into our roleplay and have some great fun with it.

Our security is frankly top notch, the only thing I can think we might want to do is give Sev a medal for his pretty much tireless efforts in this area.

For all of our departments I will task the scribes with recruiting and retaining talent. After all they know best what they need to help the place run.

That's my platform, Have at it guys!

The biggest issue with Osiris is consistent activity. How would you tackle this as pharaoh?

Thanks for the question.

I plan to be active myself, and to mercilessly hound my cabinet to be active as well. I think some of the ideas I've put forth such as the mock trials and the foreign outreach will also help drive activity. One thing I was considering was hosting a fair or a carnival here on the forums sometime during my reign too to help generate a bit of to do.

Historically, Osiris relies on its Pharaoh to micromanage every last detail of the region; and the government lacks initiative. This often ends badly, with successive government after government since Dalimbar onwards suffering in one aspect or another because of this.

How will you end the reliance of the region on one person and get the region to take responsibility for their own community?

Pardon the language in the spoiler; I'm going to be blunt about the collective state of the region.
Spoiler
[00:57] <Raven|nest> Right now, I'll be honest: Osiris is fucked.
[00:58] <@Raven|nest> It's fucked because for the last three years, there has been a person, or group of people, willing to come to the rescue of the region and pick up the slack.
[00:58] <@Raven|nest> Whether that was Biyah, Earth, Zao, George, Cormac, myself or Asta, someone has always done it.
[00:59] <@Raven|nest> As a result, Osiris has orbited those people, for better or for worse. The region has been sure in its views that whatever happens one of several people will ride to its rescue.
[01:00] <@Raven|nest> With Koth retiring, Venico retired, Cormac banned, with myself half way gone, Asta long gone, Zao halfway gone and not counting the others both listed and not, Osiris needs to take responsibility for its own community.
[01:00] <@Raven|nest> The current system cannot be sustained.
[01:01] <@Raven|nest> And nor do I want it to be.
[01:01] <@Raven|nest> Osiris needs to end this dependency on a central figure if it wants to achieve anything under its own efforts.

Why did Saq retire? I've got to say, he got much more passive in governing as time went on.

Because this game is terrible and stressful and nothing you do matters. I'll explain more in my exit address.

I didn't mean to insinuate that anyone here was a problem. You guys have treated me well, the game has not.

Thank you, Raven :) I'll leave this thread to Ainocra.

Raven you have a gift for stating the problem we as a community face.
I would disagree with your initial statement in the IRC log, I don't think we are truly fucked just yet but if something isn't done we may very well be.

One of the things I will do is use the departments of the Hedjet to drive activity and recruitment. Tasking each of the departments with a mandate to execute.
Basically in order to drive activity there needs to be something to do, and not just anything something that people want to do.

However driving activity from the top down can only do so much. To that end I am willing to entertain any idea that people might have to help with this. Such an undertaking needs to be a true community effort. After all if we rely on any one person to solve the problem we will just be falling back into the same trap you so aptly described in IRC.

People of Osiris, your community needs you. Will you join me in answering that call?
