War Wombat for Keeper

Hi there, ladies and gents of the Deshret. My name is War Wombat and I would like to be your Keeper. Let's take a look at the pros and cons of this plan.

Pros:
Experience: My experience as a former Keeper, as well as my long and involved career in the Deshret and in other NS governing bodies will give me the essential skills I need to succeed as your Keeper

Attitude: In viewing the archives of this fine legislative body you will notice that I (almost) always keep my temper in Deshret-related situations, even when emotions ran hot, for instance, in the infamous feud earlier this year. This attitude will be essential as keeper in the resolution of disputes among the Deshreti. You will also observe that I am entirely in favor of the Osiris Fraternal Order, and very passionate about wanting it to succeed. This, I believe, is another good trait for a Keeper to have.

Activity: I am well known for my activity in this region, and the day is rare that I do not get on here and post at least a few times. At present, my average posts per day count is even higher than that of Ainocra or our esteemed Pharaoh, Tim Stark. This assures that, as Keeper, votes would be conducted according to schedule, thus expediting the democratic process and reducing the need for long queues of legislation. It would also mean that I could be on call expediently in the event of an emergency situation.

Fuel-Efficient lawn cleaning system: Do not use sheep to trim your lawn. Sheep will destroy your lawn. They're not malicious, it just happens to be the way they do things. Instead, consider a wombat.

New: Housetrained: Yay!

Cons:

1: Osiris might lose face with strong anti-marsupial factions
2: Wombats are digging animals, so I might accidentally be inclined to post in threads that have not seen the light of day for several years. I am usually pretty good at not doing this, though.

Lastly, I would like to give a great big thank you to our outgoing Keeper, Ainocra. You are quite likely the best Keeper the Deshret has ever had and it has been a pleasure working with you. I hope that I can, in some way, follow in your footsteps.

And now for the questions. I'm not sure how to quote something from a different thread. I hope you will forgive the copy/paste:
These are questions for all candidates to answer.

1) If elected what will be your top legislative priority?

2) What will you do to grow the membership of the Deshret?

3) What do you feel the greatest challenge facing the Deshret is today and why?

4) What do you plan to do to combat this challenge?

5) if you had carte blanche to change the procedure of the Deshret what changes would you make and why?

6) I plan on introducing a change to the procedure of the Deshret that instructs all future Keepers to wear an eyepatch, will you vote for it?

Answer 1: As my respected colleague Andrew said in his campaign thread, priority 1 for any Keeper is to make sure that the Deshret runs smoothly. Aside from that, I'd like to see an increase in Activity, and a corresponding increase in membership. Ultimately, the Deshret should both represent Osiris, and be able to come up with solutions to the issues facing the region in a timely manner.

Answer 2: I will borrow many of the tactics made famous by Ainocra, among them the very visible tactic of advertising on the RMB in order to draw interested individuals to our halls. Increasing enfranchisement is a good thing for a democratic society, and I plan to engage in recruiting activities as much as I can.

Answer 3: Stagnation. The belief that some might hold, or grow to hold, that everything possible has been done to improve our region. This is dangerous, both because it encourages inactivity and because it blinds us to the issues that might be faced by the everyday Osiris-ite.

Answer 4: I will do whatever I can to promote legislative activity and ensure additional recruitment and retention of Deshreti. If necessary, I will initiate emergency (but fun) activity-generating measures, including votes on "fluff" such as a regional animal, regional fruit, regional gemstone, or regional dessert.

Answer 5: I would end the requirement that states that no one can apply for the Deshret while a Keeper or Pharaoh election is going on, and replace it with a requirement that states that new members of the Deshret cannot vote in Pharaoh/Keeper elections that started before their admittance to the Deshret. I believe that this would stop potential Deshreti from being discouraged in their attempts to gain membership to this legislative body.

Answer 6: I'd have to vote Abstain on that. I haven't seen any good wombat avatars with eye-patches. I might change my avatar to something that isn't a wombat if this is implemented.

If you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask. Have an awesome day, folks!

Signed,

You have a tendency to post in places you really shouldn't, like court threads. Why is that?

You are a positive force on these forums, and I wish you well.

I believe the "anti-marsupial" factions you speak of, are the very groups of people whom incepted the Fraternal Order. In no circumstance do I hope our keeper would begin to loose touch with the original mission of the Fraternal Order, or cause to undermine the work it took to establish the new Osiris. We must respect and praise those who came before us, and those who were here from the start, while diverging only when in the interest of Osiris and its growth.
Do clarify if I am wrong.

A strong manifesto, and a decent candidacy. Ultimately, I have to make a choice, and I will vote for Andrew, but I wish you luck in whatever you do next in Osiris.
