Political Party Act
The Palace of the Deshret enacts:
PART 1 — PRELIMINARY
1 Purposes
The purposes of this Act are –In outline this Act -
- to establish law relating to Political Parties in Osiris.
- establishes the authority of the Scribe of Culture on the registration and administration of Political Parties;
- provides for the registration of Political Parties;
- Specifies the conditions of Political Parties;
- sets out the requirements for the registration of Political Parties; and
- sets out the requirements to retain the participation of Political Parties
PART 2 — TEXT
2 Political Parties
- Register of Political Parties
- The Scribe of Culture must establish and maintain a Register of Political Parties containing a list of the political parties that are registered under this Part.
- Application for registration
- An eligible political party may apply to the Scribe to be registered if the political party had not made an application for registration within the previous 31 days that was refused by the Scribe.
- An application for the registration of an eligible political party must-
- be in writing, signed by the Founder of the political party; and
- set out the name of the political party; and
- be accompanied by a copy of the constitution (however described) of the political party; and
- be accompanied by a statutory declaration made by the Founder stating that at least 5 members of the political party are-
- Citizens; and
- members in accordance with the rules of the political party; and
- not members of another registered political party or of a political party applying for registration.
- Political parties not to be registered during election
- During the period that starts on the day of the dissolution of the entity being elected and ends on the day that election concludes.
- Political parties with certain names not to be registered
The Scribe must refuse an application for the registration of a political party if, in the opinion of the Scribe, the name of the political party that the party wishes to use for the purposes of this Act-
- comprises more than four words;
- is obscene;
- is the name of another registered political party; or
- so nearly resembles the name of another registered political party that it is likely to be confused with, or mistaken for, that name.
- Registration
- If the Scribe determines that a political party that has applied for registration may be registered, the Scribe must-
- register the political party by entering in the Register of Political Parties-
- the name of the political party;
- the membership list of the political party
- the applicable logo and motto of the political party; and
- give written notice to the political party that the Scribe has registered the political party.
- De-registration of political party
- This section applies to a registered political party if the Scribe is satisfied on reasonable grounds that-
- the political party has ceased to exist (whether by amalgamation with another political party or otherwise);
- the political party has ceased to have at least 5 members who meet the aforementioned requirements; or
- the registration of the political party was obtained by fraud or misrepresentation.
- If this section applies to a registered political party, the Scribe must-
- notify the Founder or registered officer of the political party in writing on the Regional Forum and by Telegram; and
- publish a notice in a medium of public communication.

- If this section applies to a registered House of Nobility, the Scribe must-
- notify the Patriarch/Matriarch of the House; and
- publish a notice in a relevant medium of public communication.
