Ok. Campaign thread. Deep breath. Here we go:
Now, it is my experience that the people of Osiris do not like to read huge walls of text. This is good, because I don’t like writing them. I am here today to discuss my three goals for Osiris if I am elected as Pharaoh.
1: A shift in foreign policy:
I believe that as a militarily Independent region, Osiris will be able to fulfill its true military and diplomatic potential. This does not by any means mean that I will sever any treaties with other regions, regardless of their military standpoint (unless of course, they themselves sever relations or do something grossly offensive). As part of this shift, a peace treaty should be negotiated with Lazarus.
2: An exponential increase in culture:
As Pharaoh, I will ensure an increase in the recently sorely lacking culture of Osiris. I will do this by promoting the RP forums, establishing the Osiris Media as a force to be reckoned with, re-instituting things such as the monthly avatar contest, as well as promoting more activity in the spam and games sub forum.
3: More Activity:
Bottom line, Osiris as a democracy will work better with more activity. Our “Directly Democratic” Deshret actually represents less than 1% of our region’s population, and in my mind, that need to change. In addition, I myself will remain consistently active, as I have since joining this region in January, accumulating in the process, (no offence to anyone intended), a far greater number of forum posts than any of my opponents in this race. I also believe that increased activity will contribute to, and be contributed to, by the first two goals in this agenda.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.
Sincerely Yours,
Vombatian Dreizhen

I echo this.

Wombat, thank you for posting your platform.

I may be slightly biased as a member of TEP and EPSA in this. EPSA is an independent military, identifying as neither raider nor defender. It's really effective, but can be a tricky balance. You mention having an independent military. Do you think this would be a difficult sell among the region? How would you deal with the region *not* being in favor of this?

You're right that culture has been lacking here. Why do you think that has been the case, and do you have anyone in mind who can help you achieve this goal?

You mention needing more activity, yet we just had our most active month ever. What do you see as activity, and what are your plans to make it happen?

Thanks for your consideration, Wombat. I wish you the best of luck.

@ Vac, Zeo: By sending more telegrams to encourage residents to join the forum and making the forum a more exciting place to be.

@ Sev

1: Do you think this would be a difficult sell among the region?

It is difficult to say for sure what the reception to this would be, but I think that it would be accepted and would help attract the talents of those who identify as defenders, as independents, or simply feel uncomfortable working with an imperialist region.

2: How would you deal with the region *not* being in favor of this?

If Osiris doesn't want this, its not my place to force the region into it. The office of Pharaoh exists to serve the people of Osiris, not to be their overlord.

3: You're right that culture has been lacking here. Why do you think that has been the case?

I think that the focus has been shifted away from the cultural aspects of Osiris in favor of more game-play elements by recent events.

4: Do you have anyone in mind who can help you achieve this goal?

I think several members of our community have had fantastic ideas for RPs and other aspects of culture. The trouble lies in getting these things off of the ground. Overall, I would be relying on Osiris as a whole to help build the cultural aspect of our community.

5: What do you see as activity?

Activity is large numbers of people contributing making positive and regular contributions to the region as a whole.

6: what are your plans to make it happen?

I would follow the plan outlined in response to the other posts, as well as asking advice from the more senior members of this community on this issue and others.

How do you plan to make the forum a more exciting place to be? Seriously you could just give me a straight answer versus a very broad one and I could stop asking you questions. :P

Are you planning to pursue a path of Imperialism or neutrality?

Better question, a path of Imperialism or Independence?

That too. I'm sick of Imperialism tbh, it's done little good for us and has resulting in our diplomatic relations crumbling.

@ Vac: By starting new threads, subforums, and areas of discussion that a wider variety of people will be interested in. This can be in the form of new or improved spam games, increased cultural threads of all kinds, a well-known and celebrated military that participates in both raids and liberation operations, and any other suggestions that anyone may have.

@Vac, Hesse-Fominov: As I have stated before, I believe that an Independent military is currently the best choice for the OFO.
