Griefing
I was going to discuss this with the Hedjet, then with FPAC, and then finally with the Deshret, but I don't see the point in having three separate discussions.
I announced here that the ISRA Osiris Division, the Legion, would not be permitted to lead operations that involve password-protection or ejection of natives, commonly referred to as "griefing," during my term as Pharaoh. I should have noted that an exception is obviously made for Warzones or for regions with which we are at war, currently none.
This has met with considerable opposition, with Venico, Bob, and Zaolat insisting that it limits us too much, others privately agreeing with them, and NES going so far as to say that it means Osiris isn't imperialist anymore. Apparently you can't be imperialist unless you grief random regions that have never done anything to offend you, except merely existed. Someone should really write these rules down somewhere so that everyone is on the same page and doesn't deviate from the definition of imperialism dictated by those who have apparently trademarked the term.
In any event, I wasn't expecting this much opposition and I prefer not to adopt major policy changes with which a majority of Osirans disagree. So please make your views known here and I'll go from there. If most of the region really is in favor of griefing, so be it. Just be aware that there is absolutely no chance of us being at all moderate or having meaningful relations with any region that is not imperialist or raider while we're running around griefing random regions. The rest of NationStates hates griefing. That said, if Osiris is fine with being confined to the handful of regions that find griefing acceptable, that's your choice to make, not mine.

I would like rules that are less restricting but as always, I'm all for destroying some founderless regions that we're not allied with.

How does that advance Osiris' interests? I get that you enjoy it. Our military policy, however, isn't for your personal amusement, it's for this region's interests. So we need to hear a case that griefing random founderless regions is actually in Osiris' interests, not just that you like doing it.
The latter argument is for raiders, and Osiris is not a raider region.

I'm predominantly against basically outlawing it, not counting the two exceptions, overall. Like I said before I don't think it would be necessary to grief the ever loving shit out of everything that could be griefed, but neither do I think it should not be an option.
As I see it, there is more interests for Osiris in being flexible.
Just to state my official opinion. I strongly oppose this policy.

You asked for my views. What's best for Osiris is not to restrict itself to such a hardline policy as "No Ejecting of Natives and No Passwording". I also would like to say that having an active military provides an outlet for keeping people active in Osiris and drawing in people who are attracted to that end of military gameplay. Since it can be employed in that manner, I don't see a reason to unilaterally ban it.

All right. Well, that literally didn't answer the question, but thanks for your input.

I see activity as being in Osiris' interests. *shrug*
I'd also like to say that I am against any griefing as defined by the NS rules.

I've yet to see any indication that activity is increased by having a military that griefs. We've had one since last September. Do you see a lot of raiders around? Me neither.
We could also still have an active military without griefing.

I'm speaking as someone who leans more Imperialist than Raider Purist. I'd say Venico leans more Purist than he does Imperialist.
