Liberate Capitalist Paradise
A resolution to strike down Delegate-imposed barriers to free entry in a region.

Category: Liberation | Nominee (region): Capitalist Paradise | Proposed by: Nierr

Description: Noting this Council's mission statement to spread interregional peace and goodwill, via force if necessary.

Declaring that peace is more important to the international community than goodwill

Acknowledging therefore, that sometimes goodwill must be sacrificed for peace, the World Assembly Security Council;

Recognises that the residents of Capitalist Paradise are not fulfilling the region's potential

Deciding that others could put Capitalist Paradise to better use

Observes the presence of one or more nations who are engaged in dubious practices in Capitalist Paradise

Hoping that one day this resolution will be able to contribute to the goal of fulfilling Capitalist Paradise's potential to the fullest

Accepting that this might take some time

This isn't a very well written resolution and it's very general in its claims.

That said, this should be taken in the context in which it was proposed. It was proposed by Nierr, also known as George Holland or Mad Jack, in response to Shadow Afforess of Capitalist Paradise (also creator of NationStates++) proposing Liberate Haven for a second time after Mall's version had failed to reach quorum. In response to Liberate Capitalist Paradise, Afforess threatened to unleash a tool that would crack regional passwords if George didn't withdraw Liberate Capitalist Paradise. Shadow Afforess was deleted for blackmail, which is against site rules, the second time he has been deleted. Afforess has also made a name for himself antagonizing other players, going so far as to question their mental health and call them sociopaths, and was earlier a thorn in the side of Feeders and Sinkers when he mass recruited the entire populations of all Feeders and Sinkers as well as several user-created regions.

Some might argue that these were Afforess' actions, not Capitalist Paradise's. That's true. However, the other people of Capitalist Paradise have never distanced themselves from Afforess' actions and have often defended them. Capitalist Paradise was also the beneficiary of Afforess' mass recruitment bomb last year.

Despite this being poorly written and having no immediate effect on Capitalist Paradise, for the statement it makes against Afforess and the community of Capitalist Paradise, I vote For.

Opposed. Nierr should have filed a GHR when Afforess was DEATed.

Against, for a couple reasons.

The first being that this resolution accomplishes nothing. A condemnation suits the spirit of the resolution, not a liberation.

The second being that if Georgie's intention is to flood the SC for the foreseeable future, we should be voting against every one of his proposals regardless of their merit to discourage such behavior.

Afforress being a giant douche and his subsequent deletion is irrelevant in this matter.

I'm actually persuaded by the argument that we should discourage flooding of the Security Council queue, especially to apparently punish all of Gameplay and the Security Council for a liberation resolution that didn't make quorum.

I change my vote to Against.

This is also at vote now.

The Pharaoh voted For the resolution.
