We currently have 31 forums on the forum main page, ranging from governmental forums to cultural forums. There are probably ways we could compact this, though there are also probably ways we can compact some things while expanding other things. The important thing is that the structure of the forum responds to the needs of the community, and above all that the forum remains easily navigable for new (or returning) players.
So my question for the general public is: Are you satisfied with the current forum structure as-is? And, if not, how would you reorganize it? Which forums would you choose to compact and which would you choose to expand, and how would you go about doing that?
This issue will be discussed by the administrative team as well but I would like to get a feel for the views of the broader public.

Having a quick look, I think the IRC link forum can be removed. There is the link at the top right so it shouldn't be strictly necessary to have a forum as well. The religions I think would make sense to fold into a single forum too perhaps within the city of Giza. I'm not sure either the Atef or the Security need public index forums. They aren't going to be active posting wise ever and their business is private for the most part. If they need any kind of public forum I think it would make sense to have them just as subforums somewhere appropriate.

The forum does appear a little congested in some places.
I agree with Charles in where the forums should be compacted.

All right, we've gone from 31 top level forums to 22, only 20 of which are visible to all citizens (the other two being the Moderation and Administration forums, which I've pulled out of Technical to avoid us missing admin requests).
In most cases this has involved the compacting of forums. Religious societies are now located within Shrines of Nekhen, and a dedicated residential quarter (Great Cities of Osiris) has been created to contain the new House system. I have placed these at the very top of the Community and Culture section to ensure that they remain prominent and will be used. I have also compacted a number of rarely used government forums into Pharaoh's Chamber or their relevant Temples, and moved all government forums under the same State and Government section.
In a few cases I did actually pull forums out to the top level, including moving NS Discussion and Spam & Games out of the General forum to encourage greater use of NS Discussion and General. I moved Media inside NS Discussion because it has been under used and seems more appropriate there.
This will probably be the last forum reorganization for a while as I think this is a system that can last and won't need significant modification, but I'm still open to input on tweaks of this reorganization.

So far things look good. I just wish I had a map to navigate through the changes.

Yeah, sorry. There won't be any major changes again for the foreseeable future, just maybe some tweaks here and there.
I do apologize for the confusion though. With this being a relatively new forum we're just trying to figure out how best to arrange it.
