Book of the Thirteen, Chapter IV

Post by shetef »

CHAPTER IV. THE WORD OF ZEORUS THE FOURTH i. Many weeks passed after the Pilgrimage. Zeorus, Fourth of the Thirteen, had grown tired of Osiris and had a chat with Treize, last of the Thirteenth.

ii. "Osiris is nice, but I need a change of scenery." said the Fourth. "What other worlds did we create?"

iii. "The seventh one's not so bad.", offered the Thirteenth. "Decent weather, good nightlife. The people are all West Virginian for some reason, though."

iv. The Fourth grimaced. "I'll pass. What about the sixth? I hear Enter the Haggis is playing there this weekend."

v. "The sixth world is also where they make those really douchey t-shirts with pick-up lines on them.", the Thirteenth said as he rolled his eyes. "No taste at all."

vi. The Fourth sighed. "At this point I'll go anywhere. This wanderlust is killing me." So the Fourth and Thirteenth rolled a d20 because nobody makes thirteen-sided dice. It landed on 4.

vii. The Fourth nodded. "I'll go pack." Thus it was that the Fourth and Thirteenth departed Osiris and wandered to the fourth world of creation, named Dûn.

viii. The world of Dûn was a desolate wasteland, populated only by the ghosts of the forgotten.

ix. The Fourth and the Thirteenth arrived on a deserted plain at sunset. "Seems quiet enough", said the Thirteenth. "Eerily so", replied the Fourth. "I don't remember it being so empty when we created it."

x. They wandered the plain for forty days and forty nights then saw a small house on the horizon. A sign on the door read "Library".

xi. The Fourth knocked on the door. A young man with wild hair and large glasses opened the door. "I'm sorry, we've closed due to-"

xii. "Where is everyone?" asked the Thirteenth. The Fourth then stepped inside and took a seat next to a warm fireplace.

xiii. "It's a long story," the young man replied. The Fourth looked him in the eye solemnly. "We're gods. We've got time."

xiv. Thus it was that Zeorus the Fourth and Treize Dreizehn the Thirteenth met Qufafi, the Scholar.
