As you can see, a news marquee has been installed at the top of the forum. Government officials can request the addition of other news items in this thread, and admins may add news items as they see them pop up. Others can also request the addition of news items, but they'll be added at admin discretion.

Deshret votes will automatically be added to the marquee, as my initial reason for the marquee was to make sure Councilors are aware of legislation at vote. :P

We're going to try to keep the marquee limited to roughly five news items at a time. No more than ten, ever.

I've been receiving complaints from a few forum users that they think the marquee script may be slowing down forum loading. I've noticed this myself, and given that nobody but me was updating it anyway I've removed the script.

r3n and I believe it was the adverts that were causing it as they come from external locations. The html code of the Marquee code was internal and would not need to load external tools or resources.

Oh. I guess I should have mentioned it first then. :$

I'll reinstall the marquee code again later.

Albion and Balder are both on the same zeta server and have both been having major issues with loading times as well.

The slow loading time has been persistent for the w11 server for 2-3 weeks now, at least for the three forums on that server I frequent (Balder, OFO, and Albion).

Before that, any slowness in loading was caused by the ZB ads, which are loaded from external destinations and make heavy use of javascript. But the slowness of late must be ZB server issues.

There have been issues with this server that haven't been fixed that date back to at least October of 2011. They know of many of the issues and have not been able to get them resolved. This was a big reason TSP moved to IPB.
