Joinable Groups

We have implemented invitation-only joinable groups for use by the Priesthoods of the Hedjet. What this means is:
  • The Vizier, whether an admin or not, will be able to add new applicants to their selected Priesthoods immediately upon application, as the Vizier has been made a leader of each Priesthood group.
  • Scribes will be able to remove inactive members of their Priesthoods as they have been made leaders of their respective Priesthood groups.
  • Where there are subforums for subdivisions of a Priesthood (i.e., Shrine of Anubis for the Diplomatic Service, Editing Office for The Osiris Outlaw, etc.), the Scribes of those Priesthoods will be able to add and remove members to them.
Given the way our system works, Scribes should not be adding new members to Priesthoods. The Vizier needs to add them in order to track activity and eligibility for the Deshret. If Scribes remove members from Priesthoods for inactivity they should immediately notify the Vizier.

With the implementation of joinable groups there is no longer any action that needs to be taken via the Admin CP to mask applicants for their selected Priesthoods. This has now been left entirely in the hands of the government, as admins are not even leaders of the joinable groups (unless they are also the Vizier or a Scribe).

For anyone who is unfamiliar with using joinable groups:
1. Click on Preferences at the top of the forum.

2. Under Profile Options, you will see Joinable Groups at the bottom. Click.

3. You will see a list of joinable groups, and if you are in a particular group you will see "In Group - Leave Group." If you aren't in a particular group, you will see "Invitation Only."

4. If you are the leader of a group, below this list you will see a list of the groups you are leading. You can add new members by clicking Invite Member, typing in their username, confirming their username and then submitting. Despite use of the word "invite," inviting a member automatically adds them to the group without any action from them. In the case of Priesthoods, this should only be used by the Vizier.

5. If you are the leader of a group, you can click on View Members & Leaders and you will be able to check boxes next to anyone's name you want to remove, then click Submit at the bottom.
If anyone has any questions about use of joinable groups, feel free to poke me.

All current members of Priesthoods have been moved to their respective groups already. If anyone has any access problems please don't be shy about letting me know.

Having been confirmed as Vizier, ygfbv has been added as a leader for all joinable groups.

Lord Ravenclaw has been added as a leader for all joinable groups as well, given that the Pharaoh and the Vizier are now approving Priesthood apps.

Venico and I are also leaders for each group in case we're needed to add/remove anyone from groups, but this is still a task we encourage the government to handle.

Yes, my LoA is going swell, thanks for asking. :P

I've tidied these up just a bit, including removing Venico and Zeorus from the groups they were in given that they're no longer citizens and these groups extend access to planning subforums.

As a note, I would strongly encourage the Pharaoh, Vizier, and Scribes to go through each joinable group and remove anyone who is no longer in each Priesthood. As I said above, these joinable groups extend access to planning forums so anyone in them can see the planning forums that are supposed to be exclusive to members of each Priesthood. I have no idea who is and is not in each Priesthood and the point of joinable groups was to give the government more control over this and admins less of a role.

As I'm currently away thanks to my laptop screen dying, that'll take a while.

I used this to remove some, and will finish up in the next day or so. I checked to see who was still interested so now I have an idea who to remove.
