Hileville for Pharaoh

Hileville for Pharaoh I have decided to run for Pharaoh. When I first saw the idea being floated around on IRC it peaked my interest but I wasn't positive if now would be the time for me to run. After some thought and a desire to have a competitive race I decided now is better than ever.

In my time in NationStates I have served a variety of positions across the GCR's. I served as Delegate of the South Pacific for 377 days. I served as Minister of Foreign Affairs twice for the South Pacific (most recently a short stint in December and part of January). In the North Pacific I took on the unthinkable task of being the Chief Justice for 11 months. Here in Osiris I have served as Attorney General, Kenbet Justice, and Scribe of Isis.

The events of the last couple of months here in Osiris proves what we as a region can do when we come together as one. We were united in a cause to make Osiris better and give the people a true voice. We need to expand on this and continue to build an environment that is fun and fair for all.

As Pharaoh I would ensure that we build upon the fundamentals of the region. Concentrating on expanding our Foreign Affairs department by looking for renewed and new allies. Expanding the Military and ensuring that a diverse training program is developed for new recruits. Integrating citizens into the region with a friendly and welcoming attitude.

Lastly, I just want to wish Lord Ravenclaw the best of luck. I have the utmost respect for him and the service he has done for this region.

Together as Osiris we can do great things and I ask for your trust and vote to become the next Pharaoh.

Some questions I'm going to ask all candidates (though each may be slightly modified depending on the circumstances):

1. Which of the following executive areas do you see as most important in the coming term: Integration, Culture, Foreign Affairs, Military Affairs, World Assembly Affairs, Justice, or Security? You can name more than one if you see more than one as important, but I personally would like to see you limit your answer to no more than three so we'll have some idea of where the focus will be next term under your administration.

2. If you could accomplish one major goal next term, what would that be and why?

3. Will you continue to work with the regions that have been supporting the OFO since December 10 and, if so, to what extent and in what capacity? What direction do you have in mind for the Sekhmet Legion overall?

4. Section 2.10 of the States Code gives the Pharaoh the power to appoint Guardians of the Atef with the approval of the Deshret. What size do you envision the Atef being, and what kind of criteria would you be looking for in a Guardian? Will you be looking for short-term service (i.e., just over the course of your term), now that this is possible thanks to influence decay, or more long-term service across multiple terms?

5. The Vizier has certain constitutionally and legally defined roles -- second most endorsements, acting Pharaoh in your absence, succession if you resign, activity certification for Deshret membership. Do you have additional responsibilities in mind for the Vizier during your term and, if so, what? What will be your criteria for choosing a Vizier and do you have someone in mind already (you don't have to name them, it's up to you)?

6. Section 2.6 of the State Code gives the Pharaoh the power to veto legislation passed by the Deshret. Under what circumstances would you exercise this power of veto?

7. Section 2.8 of the State Code gives the Pharaoh the power to pardon or commute the sentence of an individual convicted of crimes against Osiris, with the approval of the Deshret. Under what circumstances, if any, would you exercise this power?

8. There is nothing in the State Code that prevents the Pharaoh from appointing himself or his Vizier as a Scribe. Are you planning to appoint yourself or your Vizier as a Scribe of any department, and if so, which one(s) and why?

9. Hypothetical scenario: Multiple members of The Empire and their supporters (assuming they have any) have planted WA sleepers in the region at or near the endorsement cap. They have begun tarting and running unendo campaigns against you and your Vizier, and you don't have the influence to banject them all. You don't yet have the Atef in place, or at least most of them are not yet high influence. What do you do?

10. Will you pledge not to unban Biyah, Dalimbar, Neo Kervoskia, Minineenee, Sentimental Journey, and Tim Stark while you are in the Delegacy, nor to allow the former four to maintain any nation at all in Osiris or apply for citizenship or diplomatic status on this forum?

Thank you in advance for your answers. I may have follow-up or additional questions, and I look forward to seeing your platform. Given your RL commitment tonight don't worry about being in a hurry to answer these, I can wait. :P Best of luck in your campaign!

I'm basically asking every candidate the same, somewhat open ended question: What will you do to expand Osiran influence in the gameplay sphere?

Would you be willing to make me Scribe of Ptah if you win? Thank you =P

I will forgo answering any questions about the Cabinet I wish to establish. I will be evaluating all Scribes if elected and ensuring that the best people are in place to get the job done.

In order to expand our influence in gameplay we need to not only have an military but also begin to rebuild those relationships in which were strained last year. I want to see and will advocate for a close working relationship with all of our friends and allies that came to our aid throughout this rebuilding period.

@Cormac

1. Culture, Foreign, and Military Affairs would be the top three and in that order with Security also being a strong focus which it should be. I feel we need to work towards expanding on a culture in the region that is open and friendly to all. Over the last year or so that had really been what was severely lacking in the region. We have done wonders at lighting a spark in this area with the removal of those who contributed to that missing piece. I believe a strong military will add a huge area for activity in the region. In Foreign Affairs the connections and relationships that we build/rebuild will continue to give us legitimacy on the international stage.

As Pharaoh I must always be focused on the security of the region which is why I felt compelled to list it as well.

2. My biggest focus will be ensuring each department is functional and working towards making the region better. I want to see the implementation of a Legal Code, the mentor program (which is going into a trial phase today) functioning, and the Atef being established.

3. Absolutely. In my experience in military gameplay you need friends who you get along with and can work with regularly. I have no desire or plans on changing the overall direction of the Sekhmet. The direction it is headed will ensure activity in the region and a continued build up of our member base.

4. For the Atef I envision a 3-5 member panel of highly trustworthy individuals. I believe that a balance of long term and short term nations will be the key to the Atef's success. I would like to see fresh minds come into such an important body overtime. Permanent long term members are indeed needed but it is more realistic to allow for flexibility on the body to ensure that the security of the region is always the number one focus. Guardians need to be highly trustworthy and have some influence in the region.

5. As of this time I have no additional responsibilities in mind for the Vizier. This will ultimately depend on the individual I chose and I have a couple people in mind. The people I have in mind have all proven their love is for Osiris and shown a dedication to making the region better. I also would ensure that the person I chose for Pharaoh has a good working relationship with me but isn't afraid to tell me that what I am thinking isn't the best course of action.

6. I do not foresee any circumstance that I would use the power of veto at this time. If a bill that is passed would pose damage to the region I would not hesitate to use it.

7. I wouldn't. We have seen where pardons can go and I don't like it. I will not be asking for a pardon of anyone convicted of a crime in this region during my time as Pharaoh.

8. I do not plan on appointing myself a Scribe if elected. I would consider appointing a Vizier to a Scribe position if they were the most qualified for the position. That will depend on who the individual is so I would prefer not to get into specific details of which department.

9. I would use the power of the regional mass-tg to keep the region informed of what is going on. I would seek assistance from our allies to ensure that no Empire member overtake me in Endorsements. An evaluation of the nations to determine the nation with the highest threat to the region would be done and then a plan for banning those nations would need to be established. For the sake of keeping my overall plan in this event unknown to the outside work I'm not going to go any further.

10. YES (I almost forgot this question as it only requires a one word answer. :P )

1. You've stated that foreign affairs will be a priority of your term. Aside from those you've mentioned, what else do you hope to accomplish in that area?

2. What will your leadership mean for the future direction and place of Osiris in the GCR community, and in the greater NS world?

3. Will you allow your Scribes great autonomy in the formulation of the priorities of individual priesthoods or do you prefer a more hands-on, personally engaged approach? You will head the executive branch, what is your management style?

4. Any bill you'd like the Deshret to pass under your term? Do you have any ideas for legislation?

Thank you and the best of luck!:)

1. You've stated that foreign affairs will be a priority of your term. Aside from those you've mentioned, what else do you hope to accomplish in that area?
I would like to look at possible Treaty partners. I think Raven has done a great job rebuilding the whole Foreign Affairs area and would mostly be expanding on the current fondation.
2. What will your leadership mean for the future direction and place of Osiris in the GCR community, and in the greater NS world?
I believe it would show Osiris has moved on from the past and is moving towards a brighter future while working on building a stronger region in the present. It is important to me that Osiris rebuild its image in the NS community and that really starts with this election. I strongly believe if elected I can really move along that process.
3. Will you allow your Scribes great autonomy in the formulation of the priorities of individual priesthoods or do you prefer a more hands-on, personally engaged approach? You will head the executive branch, what is your management style?
When I was Delegate of TSP I used a really mixed approached depending on the needs of the region at the given time. I see myself using a similar method here. I will be hands on when I need to be and more laid back when possible. I would make sure that the Scribes all know to keep me in the loop on policies they plan on making but will speak up if I believe they are headed down the wrong path.
4. Any bill you'd like the Deshret to pass under your term? Do you have any ideas for legislation?
I'm with Raven in the fact that the Colonies and Territories act should be passed. I also want to see the Legal Code pass relatively soon. Besides those two I have no other items in mind.

Thank you. I have a follow up question if you would please?

What will be your criteria in identifying a region as a potential or worthy treaty partner for Osiris? And to what extent do you expect them to cooperate? (security, culture, overall international relations etc)
