Letter written from the front of the Lazarus-Osiris War:

Dear Henrieta,

It is with pleasure that I inform you that I am well at the present, although I have had to hold my coat tightly against the chill in the air.

No doubt you will be now have heard reports of recent battles, where Osiris dashed towards our lines with a volley of wild accusations. Their shot was poorly aimed and their attack ill conceived. We from behind our defensive works suffered lightly under the faltering attack. Having driven off their numbers we leave them to rethink their ways. I can only hope that the next time they come, they bring some sarsaparilla so that we might have something to show for it. The shiny buttons of their uniforms once sought after have become the thing of barracks humour, once it was discovered they were made of plastic.

The hordes coming over the hill from Osiris have been proven in recent days the thing of imaginative newspaper men. Our biggest battle in this war is the boredom of idly passing the day. I will endeavour to stay away from the games of dice and cards as best I am able, as I may find my wallet greatly lightened by cardsharps if I do not. Well I believe that I have nothing else of interest to write home about today, but will probably write again ere I return home.

Well I will close for today hoping to see one and all very soon.

- Karp, who is terribly misinformed. I was informed that Lenny was a spy immediately before I was removed as Info Governor. Llamas was struck down as VC mere days later, and the dispute only started about two weeks after that IIRC. Very, very old indeed coming from Karp, who's been on NS a really long time and should be able to tell the difference between a couple weeks and a long time.
