Oh that looks so cool. I'm so glad I looked at this. I love the reference to the color out of space. Lovecraft references are always fun. The only thing that irks me is the spear the model is holding feels too small for something with such a long body, but in terms of everything else it looks perfect and a testament to what I can only imagine to be a high degree of skill.

Yes, as I mentioned with the earlier eel I had to choose what to do with the arms, and decided just to leave them small and lean in to the uncanny aspect.Dragonian Alliance wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:40 pm Oh that looks so cool. Re: Miniature Monday
For this week's Miniature Monday, we have the final miniature of my Idoneth Deepkin project - the Isharann Soulrender.

When converting this miniature, I was left in a little bit of an awkward position. It is supposed to be the leader of the army, but I had created a progression of mutation in the other miniatures - swapping the heads of the lowest level Thralls for Skinks to give them a more aquatic and inhuman appearance while retaining their humanoid appearance, whereas the higher level Akhelians had almost entirely become eels. With that precedent, I thought it might be odd to go back to the former for the highest level character, but there was not much else I could do. I decided it could work as an intermediate stage - the idea being that the further stages separate them from the mortal world more, so a commander would be better chosen from those somewhere in the middle. This was aided by the miniatures of the eels themselves, with their covered eyes. Then looking for an appropriate head, I did not have to go far - the Soulrender has an accompanying swordfish who has attacks in its profile, so I just combined the two.
I painted the Soulrender as part of an event held by Games Workshop, a challenge to paint a single miniature in a seven-hour stretch of time, starting at 10 AM and providing hourly updates. Below are said updates from 11 AM to the finished result from two angles at 5 PM.
Yes, my paint station is a bit of a mess. My habit of increasing difficulty for myself reared its head again, as I decided to blend the robes, which took a great deal of my time. Really though I was in no danger, I was able to take frequent breaks and still complete the miniature - just about, some of the paint on the base was still drying as I took those last two pictures, and even in the final results you can see some sloppy superglue placement. I slipped up substantially with the metal, deciding that it was too dark after having essentially finished it, and adding another pale wash which ended up far too splotchy, requiring me to go back in and neaten it up. The head was surprisingly fun to paint, as was the toad. The constellation on the cloak was supposed to look like a toad's face, but if that truly came across is for other people to judge. Finally, I decided to paint the rock beneath the miniature's foot in an eerie mix of colours as a reference to Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space, in which a strangely coloured meteorite ends up polluting the water, land, plants and people of the area it lands in. It ended up looking rather hideous, so I hid it behind plants so that it could be a fun detail for those who look closely enough to spot.

Def a good paintjob, I do also really like the silhouette of the model. I appreciate the random toad greatly tbh, they're baby
Re: Miniature Monday
It is International Women's Day, so for today's Miniature Monday we have something a little different - the all-female Vostroyan 169th Armoured Regiment!

Sadly, there are no official female Vostroyan models - there are only a couple of official female Imperial Guard models, and I believe that they are all limited special items. Thus, the solution was obvious - create an armoured regiment. With none of the crew showing, I can say they are female if I want. That is no replacement however, as I could just as easily say that they are pink-skinned transgender dolphin people if I wanted. Obviously I would prefer some proper female miniatures, but the only other way I could achieve something similar would be to purchase lots of Vostroyans and only use the ones without massive facial hair. However, that would be extremely expensive, and result in very repetitive miniatures, as there is only one Vostroyan model with neither a mask nor moustache. In fact, there is one actual Vostroyan miniature in the army - the model from the very first Miniature Monday, Major General Grafin Agrafina. You can spot her if you look carefully.
I started this army 15 years ago, and it is part of my overall Medusa V force that I added to only last year, making it my longest running army (since my Tomb Kings were brought to an abrupt end). They are those who chose to remain behind on the planet of Medusa V when it was to be struck by a Warp Storm, buying time for the last of the civilians to be evacuated. I have used the army infrequently since starting it, as it is generally reserved for larger Apocalypse games. However, they have one further trait that has stuck with them across the decade and a half - I have atrociously bad luck with them. I do not use 'luck' to mean a force that can affect outcomes, but a way of describing trends in random probability, and there is little other way to describe it. The greatest example was during a special tank-only battle. By the end of the third turn, I only had a Chimera left, and I had only destroyed a single enemy model. I promptly used the Chimera to ram an enemy, because I may be unlucky but I am also stubborn.
Vostroyans are inspired by Cossacks, so I had a lot of fun creating names in Ukrainian. In fact, I learned how to read Cyrillic for this army, though that capability has become a tragic casualty of my failing memory.
As I purchased this army bit by bit over the years, many of the paints I used on the earlier ones were no longer sold by the time I bought the later ones. In fact, this has happened more than once. As a result, the below is a rough guide using some outdated paint names. On the oldest ones, I was able to give them a textured spray undercoat, making them more receptive to drybrushing. However, that spray was discontinued. I tried using one of the later introduced texture paints, but the result was horrendous, being far too streaky and the grains far too large. My attempts to remedy this mishap can most prominently be seen on the near-right Hellhound.

Re: Miniature Monday
This week marks the anniversary of the first Miniature Monday on the Discord server. To mark it (and because, apparently, one full army is not noteworthy enough), here is every miniature I have displayed in this feature so far... ish. Infuriatingly, two entries were missing from the first post of this thread, so I did not add them to the overall picture. One of those entries happened to be an entire army. I have fixed the first post and added them separately here, but it made me quite miserable, as did the poor quality of the images below - it truly shows how bad the lighting in my house is.

Making the above list was what caused me to discover the aforementioned missing entries, and I will be damned if I go back and do it again (that or the image, which took me all of Saturday to take, and I did not have the time or energy to retake), so I am afraid that those who find the date order confusing shall find no succour.
Instead of explaining my thought process for the miniatures, today I have some questions for my few readers:
Which was your favourite overall?
Which was your favourite in terms of painting?
Which was your favourite conversion?
Which was your favourite army scheme/theme?
Which had you completely forgotten about, and particularly liked?
You do not have to answer all (or any) of these, of course, but this thread could use some more engagement.
I had originally planned to add a minigame - sadly, it is almost completely ruined by the unfortunate circumstances mentioned earlier, but it might still work. Even with the two extra images I added, there is one miniature that appeared in an entry but is not shown, as I gave it away as a present. If you can discern which it was, and message me the name over Discord, you get a prize - though, it may not be one anyone is interested in. The reward would be to choose a faction and a theme, colour scheme, or general idea. I will endeavour to paint up a miniature fitting those criteria, to appear on a later Miniature Monday.
Speaking of the future of Miniature Monday (if it has one - this seems as good a time as any to end it), I am thinking of altering it to include miniatures painted by other people that I have come across online or in competitions, works of art that I cannot hope to match. Perhaps I could even include miniatures painted by others in this region, if they choose to submit their images to me.

Re: Miniature Monday
For the potentially permanently penultimate Miniature Monday, we have Warboss Ugerekka, Da Great Destroya, Da Immortul, Kaptin of Da Fulminaterz Fifth Kompany, Alphariuz, Da Great Aynjul.

Ugerekka is the leader of one of my best-painted armies, and certainly my most successful. Waaagh! Ugerekka suffered only one defeat in an entire campaign, and that was in a dreadfully unfair match - facing two vastly higher value (and more meta-viable) forces which were perfect counters to mine (Custodes, Deathwatch and Death Guard against Orks...) and had much easier win-conditions, and I still remained in the lead until the final turn (which required a dice roll to even have). I like to think this is because, while my luck is normally atrocious, Orks have the power to alter reality with their beliefs, and they believe that blue is lucky.
Ugerekka is not an Ork, though only one of his followers knows this - the Big Mek who crafted his Deff Dread. Ugerekka is in fact a Grot, riding in armour with a voice modulator making him sound like an Ork and a miniature Shokk-Attak gun mounted on the cockpit which can teleport him back to the workshop whenever it is destroyed (leaving him a little crazier each time). This earned him the moniker of 'Immortul' from his warriors. His other epithets were seized from foes he defeated in the aforementioned campaign - a Space Marine Captain of the Fulminators, a Praetor of the Alpha Legion (who have a habit of introducing themselves as their Primarch), and a Blood Angels Death Company Dreadnought (who believe themselves to be Sanguinius during his duel against Horus).
Blue and white are the colours of the Deathskulls, but I chose a lighter blue to contrast better with the base, and give the impression that he is not as intense and powerful as he professes. Said base was designed as an old battlefield between Eldar, Necrons and Death Guard, which is now a toxic scrapheap. My Orks arrived to loot the place, and came into conflict with the Fulminators Space Marines. The Redemptor Dreadnought hull is from an Easy-to-Build kit I purchased for that purpose (thank goodness it was substantially cheaper than the standard model), and it required a bit of fiddly work with the legs to get Ugerekka to stand on it. I have used the exhaust smoke effect before and will surely do so again, as I like it. The lower-left arm is a conversion, combining a failed experimental conversion for another miniature with one of the tail options of my Squiggoth. The face too was a conversion - The upper and lower 'jaws' are from different head options, and the horns are from the Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Kingdoms banner - combined, they make the Deathskulls icon of a horned skull.

Re: Miniature Monday
! That's an incredible paintjob honestly, really smooth and cleaning looking + wouldn't have guessed it was a conversion. Plus I do adore the fluff of ugerekka, grots ftw
Also, I'm waaaay late for the questions but like. I'd say my favourite overall was the Tau pirate ghostly battlesuit i'm blanking on the name of, my fav painting wise probs is actually ugerekka (though probably partially cus i lowkey love light blues), my fav conversion was influenzant purely cus without knowing what the purple sun thing originally was i NEVER would have guessed that it wasn't meant to be a virus, and i'm not totally sure what my overall fav army scheme was. Maybe the skitarii killteam you showed off a while ago? The dark colour scheme and camouflage def gives them a very unique aesthetic, makes me think of underground urban combat where they might be hiding in the shadows or whatever.
My fav one i forgot about (cus i'm reading through the thread rn) is quite probably phanta claws purely cus,,, how couldn't i hgorsih

Re: Miniature Monday
For the final Miniature Monday (though I am not ruling out its eventual return, I am an ocean of my word after all) we have a fairly old model and one of my rarest - Grumlok and Gazbag, Warlords of the Bloody Sunz.

They were released as part of the Collector's Edition for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, a fun 2008 game sadly doomed by only being playable if it remained popular. It took a lot of work to paint - this was long before the nice modern paints, perhaps even before the introduction of washes. I definitely remember using inks on it, they always produced a vibrant, slightly glossy colour. It may not be the cleanest paint job, but I still love it. I adore painting yellow, and the depth of the red really evokes blood in my mind - perhaps too much, as it rather grimly reminds me of the bad time in my life those years were. The grimy, battered, stained scheme captures my mental state at the time disturbingly well, but I am very fond of this model.
I did not convert much, merely building up the base. I wanted to evoke the image of an old warrior who does not do as much fighting anymore, a general with dried blood on his weapons who no longer slays his foes himself, a lord who receives offerings from his subordinates. Thus, I chose to decorate the base with trophies arranged around him, and arrows implying a distance from the front line of the fighting.
Miniature Monday has been an interesting experience, and I thank Wymondham for the opportunity and Hazel and Draco in particular for following it. I do not plan to revive it, but I may be forced to one day. Until then, who knows? Perhaps a successor shall arise. No, that sounds like a fool's errand.

Introduction
While I have been unable to post on every Miniature Monday or give it the time it deserves in my daily life, I have always enjoyed the weekly posts that have been going on for the past year. Therefore, I have decided to show off my Figure collection. It is smaller than what it once was due to uncontrollable and tragic circumstances, but posted below are some of my favorite current possessions from the Star Wars Collection. Pictures were done by my Wife. As a bonus, enjoy the area I live in the background. I sincerely hope you enjoy.
Also known as the UMHC Tank or Juggernaut, this is a six-legged vehicle in the Umbaran Militia during the time it was allied with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Its primary weapon is an EM Plasma Cannon designed to disintegrate entire platoons. Secondary weapons were two Antipersonnel Laser Cannons. The Umbaran vehicles were unique in that they used hand motions as the controls. The UMHC was impervious to all heavy weapons possessed by the 501st Legion, requiring air support to be destroyed.
The AAT was the main line repulsor tank used by The Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Primarily designed for frontal attacks and crewed by four droids capable of implement simple tactics at best. This particular model is a CIS AAT due to its blue coloring and CIS insignias on the side.
After the Battle of Naboo seen in Episode 1 of Star Wars, the Trade Federation designed an improved version of their OOM-series Battle Droid. What they got was a more expensive and less effective droid that admittedly was more independent, though their programming improved as the Clone Wars Progressed. This was the standard droid used by the Trade Federation and Confederacy of Independent Systems. They are most well known for their simple swarm tactics, high pitched voices, and quirky comments.
This is a representation of Darth Revan. Revan is most well known for his Victories in the Mandalorian Wars, his Sith Empire, Redemption as the Prodigal Knight, staving off the Sith Emperor Vitiate's invasion for 300 years, and inspiring Darth Bane's Rule of Two. Easily my favorite Star Wars character. Also a Tridactyl Jedi with a green lightsaber is facing him. Tridactyls are diminutive reptilians who had no apparent knowledge of their homeworld or their race's name. It should be noted, however, that George Lucas claims them to be the product of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy's union.
Informally known as Ahsoka's Clone Troopers, the 332nd Company was a Company within the 501st Legion. Ahsoka Tano is a former Togruta Jedi apprentice. She is known for her time during the Clone Wars, the Rebellion, and Post-Rebellion conflicts in which she matured as a person and developed into a capable force user on par with Darth Maul and even General Grievous.
Also known as the 212th Legion, they were led by Obi Wan Kenobi and CC-2224 "Cody". During Order 66 they would attempt to execute their former Jedi Leader. Obi Wan Kenobi is a Jedi Master and poster boy for the Jedi Order. He was deemed by the Jedi Council as the only Jedi able to reliably best General Grievous in combat due to his mastery of defensive lightsaber combat and trust in the force. Mace Windu, second only to Master Yoda on the Jedi Council, was considered the best swordsman of the Jedi Order prior to the Great Jedi Purge. He created the seventh form of lightsaber combat, Vaapad, and mastered the shatterpoint force technique. His lightsaber was also purple and rumors have been circulating for years about him surviving his battle with Darth Sidious, also known as Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine.
This particular model has six arms due to the addition of extra pieces. Qymaen Jai Sheelal was a Kaleesh Cyborg and leader of the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. A cold, brilliant, calculating strategist with power to take on multiple Jedi at once. At the height of his ability, Grievous could strike twenty times a second with his unorthodox dueling technique. The longer he fought you the more likely his technique would change to counter you. He was also a gifted pilot known for his collection of Lightsabers.
A line up of CIS troops and vehicles.
The Soulless One was the modified Belbullab-22 starfighter used by General Grievous during the Clone Wars. The TIE fighter is being dismembered by a Buzzdroid as it is being chased. The TIE/LN space superiority starfighter was the signature starfighter of the Galactic Empire. They are nicknamed in universe as evil eyes or eyeballs. They had a unique sound due to its Twin Ion Engines. It was fast, cheap, and maneuverable but had no shields, hyperdrive, or life support. Ironically, it was the successor of the Jedi Starfighters used during the Clone Wars.
A modified version of the Jedi Starfighter Eta-2 Actis Class Interceptor, this ship has Yoda's personal insignia and was usually stationed in the Jedi Temple's Hangars, Dagobah, or Korriban.
The Soulless One was the modified Belbullab-22 starfighter used by General Grievous during the Clone Wars. After the death of Grievous, the Soulless One was used by Obi Wan Kenobi to reach refuge aboard the Sundered Heart, Bail Organa's personal corvette.
Conclusion
All models above can be found anywhere Legos are sold or where Legos are resold at exorbitant prices. The models have a few inaccuracies due to the medium of Lego, but has a few secrets that a keen observer should be able to isolate. All lore provided should be accurate to Disney Canon and Legends Canon if no information was provided by Disney. I hope you enjoyed this little April Fools Day Homage to Miniature Monday. I hope you enjoyed this small portion of my Lego collection and that Miniature Monday will one day return. Also, remember to support the Official Release of Miniature Monday.
