Again, like I said I would support him for the Pschent without reservation but why like this? Why wouldn't we wait for the next pharaoh to nominate/appoint when Tim would be one of the if not the top choice?
I wasn't thrilled with the decision to self-nominate either, but does it really matter when it's really the Deshret that makes the decision, by either confirming him or not? That's basically where I'm at with this now. Yes, he nominated himself, but we still get to decide whether he's qualified and acceptable to us. If we would see him as qualified and acceptable if nominated by his successor, I'm not sure it matters that he nominated himself, though that is unconventional.

Could we possibly delay the vote until after the elections have fully concluded? The Pharaoh cannot be an Elder at the same time as being Pharaoh, and any confirmation vote, if positive, would conclude before the elections do, I believe.

That's a good point I hadn't considered. Yep, probably best to wait, especially since Tim also hasn't yet declined nomination for re-election. I'll suspend my motion to vote for a few days at least until we have a clearer picture of what's happening with the election.

Festavo wrote:So you know a lot about the law. Why should you be Elder and not Scribe of Justice? You claim to know of any loopholes in criminal codes so I think that would be very prudent to have in a Scribe of Justice.
I mean I'm honestly curious why this matters so much to you. It's not like we exactly have a line of people begging to be Elders, given the limitations it gives in terms of advancement of other political roles within the region, and we definitely could use having more than just one. I claim to have the ability to find loopholes in a legal code, as would anybody with some legal sense and the time to pore over a document for long enough. It's not like it's magic, the ability to read a legal document.
Revall wrote:I don't contest your experience with legal affairs nor that you would be a great choice for the Pschent especially because you'd be way less prone to wander off like the last few elders. Like Cormac if there was a confirmation vote I'd be voting yes.

However I am not sure how I feel about you nominating yourself I gather its not forbidden or anything but it doesn't strike me as the best way forward. Now that your desire to continue to serve Osiris after your delegacy in a capacity that we sorely need some stability in is evident, I'd imagine you would be the top choice to fill that vacancy by the next pharaoh.
Thanks Noble! Honestly, I did it just to take the piss and have some fun, as I do have a penchant for pulling unconventional moves and the like. If that's enough of an issue that people aren't willing to confirm because of it, I'm happy to wait until the next Pharaoh is election and lobby them to re-nominate myself for Elder if they are interested in doing so. I just figured this might be faster, and as said, way more fun. It was actually inspired by a post in /r/politics about some NeoCon freaking out that Obama would nominate himself to the Supreme Court, so I figured I'd be inspired by it :P

That'd be awesome! Obviously there's been a lot of getting off on the wrong foot, both here and in the Skype, but I'm big on the whole second chances vibe.
Andrew wrote:Do you identify yourself with a certain philosophy in your judicial interpretation of the law and/or the way you act? If no, when presiding over a case, what are you like?
I think Nationstates is a bit too fluid to pull for specific philosophies in the law. I'd say I'm more liberal in my interpretations of the law, and do believe that the State Code can be dynamic and open to certain interpretations. However, generally in the case of most of the cases that I imagine we'll be seeing, the Criminal Code will hopefully be airtight enough that we will not have to work to interpret it to apply to crimes that might not fit. In terms of presiding, I'd say I'm pretty no bullshit, but am definitely lenient towards Counsel. If there need to be extensions for extenuating circumstances and the like I'm very responsive to them. I hope that's what you meant by presiding and how I am when I do.
Festavo wrote:Will the Pharaoh be answering any more questions?
Probably.
Festavo wrote:He has failed to answer the questions posed to him even though he has had more than enough time to respond.
I did answer them didn't I? ;)

Hope that's sufficient, but feel free to ask me follow-ups y'all

Well, we can't dispute the fact that, in Osiris you have a considerable amount of first hand experience at how we've handled trials in the past.

I've no issue with this appointment, so long as the vote comes after the elections have concluded.

Not the most enjoyable first-hand experience, but yes.

And yeah, agreed, I don't want to awkwardly be confirmed as Pschent if I am while I'm still Pharaoh

Was that so hard?

Final question: You made sure to bring up your knowledge of loopholes in law. Have you ever exploited these loopholes to avoid just punishment?

Stop being so needlessly incendiary, especially during an already heated time in Osiran politics. There was absolutely no need for this jab, and you know it.

Incredibly so. Sorry I have a life, mate.

Yeah, I brought up the fact that I have the ability to find loopholes as does anybody else with legal sense and enough time. As for loopholes to avoid just punishment? I wouldn't say so.
