"Welcome Hastein." Turning back to the others Hasan said, "Indeed, it is magic and not the contraptions of man, like gears or pistons, that power it and make it work. Perhaps once I know you better I'll explain a little more about it"

Shar started to mouth the word "Thor" but the Scholar had already moved on. It would probably be a long trip, and Shar was sure the scholar would be asking questions along the way.

Taking out his boot knife, Valk played with it in his hands and whittled at the table in a few place. "While it is cool that your mask works off of magic, as long as it doesn't suck my soul out, I care very little." His stubble itched so V pulled back his hood and scratched at it roughly. The light, dim as it was in the tavern, caused the assassin to close his eyes and just rest on his thoughts for a few moment. "Anyone have anything productive to say?"

Elizabeth examined the dingy bar. "what a crappy place to meet, oh well, i hope they have drinks." She enters slowly, immediately noticing the odd group in the corner. She wandered over to them. "Hi all, bet you didn't expect to be in the presence of royalty today. I heard you might need my skills, so here I am. Barkeep, get me a drink, something strong."

Rashidi eyed her strangely. "You? Royalty?" he stopped himself from laughing. But they say he's all too trustful. "You know, I shall give you the benefit of the doubt. Let me introduce you, I'm Rashidi Baruti, the Scholar of Heraf, that's V of Romule, that masked gentleman is Hasan Ja-Le, this one is Adrias Kelikon of Thanos, that man is Shar Ericsson a Water Summoner of The Seidr, and this gentleman who we just met is Hastein Hammerfell of the Noble House of al-Shalah. Tell us, what is your name?" he proudly crossed his arms and smiled. His memory can be off at times, but it's better than most.

Valk chuckled. "I work for the royal family of Romule and I see royalty every day." With a sudden movement he brought his boot knife down so it sank into the table. "Your blood spills just as easily as anyone else. You are not special here nor will you be treated as such. In fact, if you start looking for special treatment you'll start to run into more trouble. Understood?" He put his hand on the hilt of his knife in the table and stared at Elizabeth.

And with that the tone had shifted. Shar grasped the handaxe inside his robes, and let out a hearty chuckle.
"I can tell you're used to the need for violence," he began, remaining seated, but shifting his weight to his feet, "But I don't think it's needed here, we're all in this for roughly the same reasons. Though, I would add, Princess, I've seen few worse first impressions," Shar only shifted his eyes to the new arrival for a moment as he addressed her, before returning his attention to the man with the knife.

V smiled at the barbarian man. Maybe this one wasn't too bad. "I'm used to too many unsavory situations, friend. I'm also used to too many people feeling entitled to things because of rank and not because of merit." Valk pulled the knife out of the table with a heave, even lifting the heavy wooden surface briefly as it clung to his blade. He kept twirling it and whittling at places but he kept his eyes on the princess.

"Elizabeth Groome, Call me Guile." She sits down as the bartender hands her a drink. "I'm a member of the Wallcroft Royal Family, and, more importantly, the best thief ever."

"Your name is 'Guile' and you're the 'best thief ever'?" Shar looked over at Valk, and half grinned before giving the girl in front of him a sneer, "I like that, princess, someone goes around talking like that, you know they're not at all worried about what other people think, am I right?"
Shar imagined the group would be needing to ditch this girl before they even got started. What limited use a thief would be in looting a ruin was nothing in comparison to the problems she represented to the rest of the group in terms of security.
If she was even half serious about being the best thief ever, she'd be stealing them blind without them even knowing it. But then again, any thief worth her salt wouldn't go to announcing it to an entire tavern full of people, most of whom would be her companions in the coming weeks.
Something was definitely up with this chick, and ditching her might be a better alternative to seeing her get her throat slit in the middle of the desert by an annoyed companion.
