The only difference between them in this case may be the version they're running.
Just for the record TSP, Lazarus, and TP are all on the same version of the software. I was under the impression TP uses the hosting option offered by Invision. If that is the case it doesn't have as much functionality and flexibility as TSP, Laz, and TWP has. I know TWP just uses the base software with no changes to it. I know TSP has really customized IPB to fit their needs. I hope to see Laz do some of these customizations as well.

I am glad to see another GCR go to IPB it is a really dynamic platform that I would love to see Osi on one day. As I have offered before to purchase a domain name for Osi and I can even provide hosting if this is the direction we go in. I would chip in on the license but am not really looking to own 2 IPB licenses but might be able to be persuaded.

You are only allowed to host one forum per license. If you are hosting more you can get the license suspended and terminated. I'm not willing to take a chance on that.

I'm still more comfortable with Zeta. "Independent" hosting means relying on someone in particular to host things, and that person would need to be highly trusted.

No more trusted than the root of a zetaboard forum.

Not entirely true. While there is a high level of trust placed in a Zetaboards root administrator, independent hosting grants a greater level of access that allows for reading and alteration of private messages and other intrusions that aren't possible on Zetaboards.

I personally have yet to see what's so great about independent hosting that makes it worth the cost and hassle. I'm a citizen of The South Pacific and Equilism, both of which have independently hosted forums, and while those forums do have a few additional features and certainly are nice forums I honestly haven't seen anything on either of them that makes me think, "This is so much better than Zetaboards, switching would be so worth it."
