You have my endorsement man. Just don't declare any wars unless they result in positive activity. :p
Thank you for your support, Josh. No wars this term.
Jakker wrote:Sat Apr 09, 2016 3:53 pmWhat is challenging for me is that many of your actions that I have seen, Cormac, have been reaction-based. Even many of your actions in this election has shown this. When you were pharaoh, your move against Lazarus, I would argue, was also reaction-based. Your previous against Osiris also so. How can we know that you won't continue this trend?
Thanks for the question, Jakker. To be honest, I always struggle with questions that begin with "How can we know...?" and ask about changing some past behavior. The truth is you can't
know. All I can do is say that I'm committed to being less reactive, which I am, but whether you believe that I mean it or believe that I'll be able to do it is a matter of trust. There is no concrete policy I can propose that will be able to completely satisfy anyone that a past personality flaw won't resurface.
That said, I have proposed policies that I believe will help reduce the likelihood of what concerns you, and I'm sure it concerns others as well. In foreign affairs, I will be letting my Scribe of Foreign Affairs take the lead and consulting the Deshret in all foreign affairs matters, which should lead to more deliberation and less reaction. More importantly, in domestic affairs I will be appointing a unity government, and that isn't just to give the appearance of unity. I want a unity government so that I will have input from a broad spectrum of the Osiran community, and having that input and relying on it will also, I believe, lead to more deliberative and less reactive decision making.
I hope that helps to answer your question, though I don't think there can really be a 100% satisfying answer to it, because a lot of it just comes down to trust that I will do what I've promised to do.

Voting will begin later tonight, and I just wanted to say a few more words before it starts.
I decided to run for Pharaoh in the second round of voting, after having ruled it out for weeks before the election, because I want to give everyone a chance after the recent debacle to prove we're better than this. I have other ideas and other plans that I've articulated, but that, in a nutshell, is why I decided to run. I want to give everyone, myself included, a chance to prove that we are not what we have let ourselves be over the past week or so. We can do better than this. The Pharaoh is in the best position to give everyone that chance, or to deny some that chance. I'm running because I want to make sure we all have that chance.
I recognize, however, that what I'm asking is to be given more of a chance than some, because I'm asking to be Pharaoh. Even if my intentions are good, in trying to give everyone a chance by appointing a unity government, I'm still asking this community to put me in leadership of that government. So I want to be really clear that I don't think I deserve it more than anyone else. I don't deserve a chance to prove I'm better than this anymore than Jesus Whale does, or anymore than any of the other people who were involved in the situation. I don't believe I deserve to be Pharaoh anymore than any other candidate, and if I'm not elected Pharaoh, I won't feel that the community has made the wrong decision. I've made too many wrong decisions the past few days, in regard to this situation, to be in any position to judge others' decisions right or wrong.
What I do hope is that the next Pharaoh, whether that is me or Jesus Whale or one of the other candidates who will still appear on the ballot, will work to give everyone a chance to prove we're better than this. Any Pharaoh who is willing to do that will have my support every step of the way.
Thank you in advance to anyone who votes for me, and good luck to Jesus Whale and the other candidates. I'm glad this second round of voting has proven more civil and orderly than the first.

I would like to congratulate the next Pharaoh of the Osiris Fraternal Order, The Almighty Jesus Whale, for his impending victory in this election.
I will continue, as a Guardian, to cooperate with the Pharaoh in safeguarding our in-game security and protecting Osiris against any threat. Thank you to those of you who voted for me and I hope you will also move forward with a mind toward respect and cooperation.
