Defenderism v Raiderism - what catagory do you fall under!
I was Acting Director of the Alliance Defense Network. Lead the largest participating army in the TNP Liberation from Great Bight. Lead the Liberation of The North Pacific from Pixiedance as ADN Secretary of Defense. Also served as a Representative of the A.L.L. and I am still a member of the GLA. I am as 'Defender' as can be.
I coup'd my own region Equilism in 'The Schism'...which was actually coordinated with both 'sides' working together behind the scenes to save our region from dying due to the gameplay changes that destroyed so many of our friend and allied Defenders. Inflexibility and the inability or unwillingness to change with the game was their downfall.
Later, I lead the Crimson Order in a war against inactivity, both among players and NS Mods and Admins...and we were successful in that work.
I banjected 900 nations from The North Pacific when I was Delegate there.
I lead the Westwind Flying Circus in unaffiliated gameplay to simply enjoy the game rather that get into the ridiculous r/d dicotomy.
I've worked with the "good guys" and I've worked with the "bad guys". I've worked with defenders, with raiders, with imperialists, with mercenaries, with independents, with anti-WA and anti-nazis.....they are all valid and important parts of gameplay. There really should be more than these few classifications and their subdivisions, IMO. The lack of creativity and ingenunity in gameplay saddens me at times.
Today, regardless of those that would label The West Pacific as 'imperialist', I stand independent. I will defend when I feel appropriate, I will raid when I feel appropriate. I will be Imperialistic when appropriate, and I encourage everyone to have fun rather that let themselves be stuffed into a box with a label.
If 'fun' for you is being a defender...then do that. If it's being a raider....go for it. If you've done one thing for awhile and want to try something else, go give it a try. Just don't use that to betray one side or the other, or you'll end up being persona non grata in both/all. Or in other words, always play with respect towards those with whom you are working.
No player has the moral authority to tell other players how to enjoy NationStates. We are all here to enjoy each other in the game when you boil it all down. Some people forget this, and let it become personal.

I'm the purest raider alive so it sickens me that there are defenders here.
What do you mean I have to be tolerant of others, Koth. You're not the boss of me
I'm a raider. The presence of defenders does not repulse me in the slightest. Go Tolerance.

Durk is a fire that is sometimes neccessary to burn down the forest in order for new seeds of activity to sprout.

I literally don't think I've ever seen a better description of Durk.Westwind wrote:Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:24 amOh come now, yet another label.Durkadurkiranistan II wrote:Thu Dec 12, 2013 2:25 amGriefer.

I'm raider, for the record. We won't go into my past. It's sordid.
